We always decide whether to go to a restaurant we’ve never been to based on the number of cars in the parking lot. China Garden’s parking lot was packed, but when we walked in, it was bustling with people, and everyone sounded happy. We had a truly wonderful dining experience. My family loved their vegetable and chicken curry. The beef fried rice was my favorite; it was rich and fragrant.
Better than any other Chinese restaurant in California.

The restaurant is clean. The food is hot and fresh tasting. The booths provided privacy. The tea was complimentary and tasted great. My friend and I both left satisfied. It is quality food and the price is really low. *Update* I have eaten there again and will continue to do so. The meals are large and the food tastes great. It’s one of my favorite restaurants in Douglas County.

Formerly Chi’s. New owners, new name (sort of as Chi’s was an abbreviation) They’ve changed menus and table covers but much seems the same.
The menu is similar with some h changes. Ambiance is still a bit like an old steakhouse with new tables.
Food is up & down. Some very good, some good, some ok. We tried:
•Wor wonton with noodles-good but wontons were doughy, and not much meat & veg.
•House Fried Rice-very good. Good flavor, cooked nicely.
Pork Chow Mein-good. But, in the Build Your Combo, there was not as much as expected.
Honey Chicken-quite sweet. I’d ask for less sauce.
Steamed Rice-pretty standard.
Service is 5 stars. It brought the score from 3 to 4 stars. I would go back and try other things. I wish them great success.

Clean, friendly, and affordable, with generous portions and carefully prepared dishes. Best noodles in town. The was delicious, with just the right amount of flavor without being overpowering. I like my dish a little more tender, so I asked for extra sauce, which they provided. The portions were generous, with shrimp, chicken, and roast pork. I also ordered takeout for my family.

Sorely disappointed by the lack of flavor of the dishes. While the menu has relatively stayed the same, the food is drastically different and not in a good way.
There were about 7 other people trying to get sat down and pick up orders but not enough staff to help all the customers. Staff were friendly but you could tell they were very overwhelmed.
Hope the new owners can make positive adjustments to the recipes used so the dishes can be full of flavor like before.

We never liked the old Chi’s restaurant but the food and the friendly efficient service now is outstanding. I asked for sn off menu item of green beans and chicken with black bean sauce and it was excellent. The Singapore noodles was also very flavorful. My wife enjoyed the mushu vegetables and the hot and sour soup which was the best in town. The egg drop soup was also very good and not greasy with chicken fat as it often is elsewhere. All in all a great improvement and a welcome addition to our local choices. And the prices remain very competitive. Portions were also very large. The vegetable delight was, however, extremely bland. It was basically steamed vegetables with no spicing and a thin watery sauce. I cannot re commend that. The broth of the workers wonton soup also was low on flavor, as it seems to be at most Chinese restaurants. That was the only item we liked from the previous owners and both the broth and the wonton themselves are not as good as they used to be. But everything else is SO much better that it more than makes up for it.

After noticing the new ownership and name change, we decided to give Chinese Garden a try. Our server seemed new and wasn’t able to answer some questions, but she was eager to learn and checked with the kitchen. Another server later clarified things and thanked us for our patience.
The food was excellent—hot and far more authentic and flavorful than most places in town, including Chi’s. Nothing felt watered down.
If you visit, be proactive about asking for spice levels. Everyone’s idea of “spicy” is different, so order accordingly.

Bad service only beaten by bad food. Lacking sushi labels and flavor. I’ve never had watery pork before.

Great new ownership and still has my fave honey chicken on menu. Dani is a star! Ordered from their website & I tried ordering a sauce from DoorDash and got a Network error message. It kept dropping the payment and Doordash kept overcharging for the sauce. Then I got the Network Error message & Dani & dasher collaborated by dasher loaning the $3.00 for sauce compared to dDoordash overcharge. And I was able to pay dasher back through the tip. Dani wss very professional about the issue. Still has great menu variety and low prices. Dani’s excellent demeanor and kindness really helps make the face of the business look very well! Thank you very much Dani! I really appreciate you & the new owners for keeping things strong & thorough! Chinese Garden has a lot more to offer in lieu of wonderful new noodle dish items as well & I’m very impressed Hating to see Nikki retire & she will be sorely missed. I’ve managed & waitressed in the restaurant biz along with other departments in Bay Area Law Corporate firms. And I understand how to make clients feel welcome & happy. Changing ownerships can be very stressful on staff & Dani is handling it well as I can see from my experience with her under pressure! Check out Chinese Garden for tasty food, healthy options, prices, & service!
