We showed up for dinner and were seated immediately, which was great. My husband and I visit The Plaining Mill frequently for dinner, and this visit reminded us why we keep coming back.
We were seated by a very nice girl, and about a minute later she came back and introduced herself as our waitress for the night, Ashley. Right from the start, her vibes were so friendly and welcoming. When my husband asked for beer suggestions, she was quick and confident, listing several options off the top of her head. She also let us know about the new monthly specials and suggested we try the hot honey pesto pizza and the buffalo cauliflower bites as an appetizer.
The entire experience was perfect—the atmosphere, the music, the food—Ashley truly made the night exceptional. She was attentive without hovering, always on top of refills, and somehow knew exactly when we needed extra ranch before we even asked. That kind of service is rare and deserves to be recognized.
We will absolutely be back (as always)!

Absolutely amazing environment. The workers there were sooo nice. It made me soo happy seeing them all work so hard, and together. I guess it’s been a long time since I have seen happy employees. Thank you for showing me there is still hope out there. Even though I was just door dashing. I know that if you’re looking for somewhere good to eat, come on over. I am sure you are all more than welcome. I know by the way they work here. It’s amazing. I will try it one day.

Our visit to this place was so disappointing, I felt the need to warn others. This place is advertised as having stone fire oven pizza, but don’t be fooled—it’s nothing like what they claim.
We were excited to try the pizza, especially after seeing it featured on their website and social media. When we asked for a simple Margherita pizza, the waitress told us they didn’t have it and that the oven was “off.” Okay, fair enough, we then tried to pick another pizza, but she responded with, “I believe it’s not available.” At this point, we just gave up and ordered something we didn’t even want, out of sheer frustration.
When the pizza finally arrived, it was an absolute disaster. It didn’t taste like pizza at all! The dough was raw and undercooked, with a tiny amount of shredded cheese slapped on top. It was basically an inedible mess, and honestly, I’ve never had a worse pizza in my life. The waiting time was also ridiculous—we waited far too long for something that wasn’t even worth the wait.
This place is more of a bar than a restaurant, and if you’re looking for good food, especially pizza, avoid it. We certainly won’t be coming back. Total waste of time and money.

Fantastic pizza served in a great atmosphere. The beer selection is great with 21 selections on tap and more available in cans. The wings are delicious and have many different flavors to choose from. The staff is always friendly and very helpful. It is a great addition to Downtown Visalia and it is a great place to visit weather for lunch or dinner. Thebrewards points for purchases also is a fun incentive.

They were friendly and the food was absolutely delicious. Very welcoming toward our dogs. Wish we’d gone at a time with a little less sun or more shade but we’ll definitely go back. I’m still dreaming about that Thai Pie!

Took my family there for lunch. The pizza was really good…the wings were amazing, especially with the Thai sauce! Great environment. If you have kids, they have a little area in front where they can run around. Highly recommend this place!

Absolutely love the food and the team at Planing Mill. They have wonderful Pizza in several different types, regular, Detroit, cracker thin. Great salads, and part of the day they do awesome sandwiches. They also always have a great beer list with lots of Craft options both on tap and various cans and bottles.

I found the Planing Mill on a google search and felt this the perfect place for a date night. We visited during dinner and ordered several items. I ordered a Cesar salad, boneless bbq wings and my husband ordered fries and the margarita pizza. All items were delicious warm and filling. The service was 10/10. Our food was served quickly and during a busy time of day. This restaurant is family friendly. Will be back in future for more date nights.

This is the place for food and beer! Great ambience. Large tables great for setting down big pies. Amazing wings, we had honey Sriracha boneless wings. The yeti pizza was just what this meatlover craved! The crust on this pizza is a pillow of delicious. This place makes you wish you lived in Visalia and not just visiting.
