The smoky mountain roll is definitely a must eat dish, balance of many raw fish and interesting seasoning
The gyoza was also delicious. Probably the best I’ve ever had at a restaurant. When we went back, we went as a group. There was some of everything on the table – sushi, nigiri, apps, ramen, entrees, etc. Everyone seemed very pleased with their food.
Definitely a go to place!
I got the yakisoba and the flavor was good but it was a small portion and very greasy. We ordered the shishito peppers on special and they were almost raw). The sushi rolls we got were mediocre at best. The bathrooms were dirty and the food took forever to come out. Our server was trying her best but we didn’t even get our sushi bar items until we had finished our other dinner items.
One small thing we noticed: there didn’t seem to be any napkins at the table? Not sure if it was just that day or how they normally do it, but it stood out a bit.
Overall though, great experience and we’d definitely come back!
For my entree, I had the teriyaki chicken with fried rice, served in a “fajita” style dish. The platter was very hot, which kept the food warm, but I personally prefer a traditional serving. The generous amount of teriyaki sauce made the dish quite runny and the rice soggy. A bit less sauce would have improved the texture. I paired my meal with a refreshing lemonade.
My partner ordered the eel and octopus sushi, which he found decent and filling. He particularly enjoyed his green tea, noting its authentic and rich flavor.
Overall, despite some minor preferences, the experience at Anaba Japanese Grill was positive. I look forward to giving this restaurant another chance to further explore their extensive and intriguing menu!
