This place was a complete waste of money. I came here with a friend, the front desk had set us up with two other couples. I thought they were just going over safety rules and giving us a quick practice session before we started our own hour of axe throwing.
Instead, we spent about 30 minutes just standing there watching the other two couples practice. We literally only got TWO turns after the safety and practice session,” with the instructor hovering over us the entire time like we were children
If I had known it was going to be like this, I would have never paid $60 just to sit around waiting for my turn. It honestly felt like a robbery.
Don’t waste your time or money coming here!!!

We had so much fun! Highly recommend, I brought my brother as his christmas gift and he loved it. We had Cameron as our instructor and he was fantastic, really kind and patient and was really helpful! Gave tips on technique and made it a really great experience.

Despite living down the street from this spot for years, I had never been in! My friend was passing through town and we were trying to kill time before going to the airport so we stopped in here and it ended up being so fun! The instructors were super helpful and were able to whip us into axe throwing shape in no time. The experience was so fun I decided to go back just a month later for my birthday! A great time, I would highly recommend.

Our time at Urban Axes was one of the top three activities on our recent vacation. This was my second time to their location in Somerville, and they did not disappoint.
With in-laws visiting, they expressed interest in trying this activity because it’s not available where they are. My first visit, about six years ago, was for a Friday night. While this had worked for the group back then, I decided an earlier reservation on Saturday would be best to avoid crowds. We had the entire building to ourselves and had the most wonderful coach, Shelby (I may not remember your name correctly, and I’m VERY sorry). Shelby provided the basics for the in-laws and a refresher to my husband and myself, then was on point with all suggestions. His keen eye and tips enhanced our performance as players, and we all were able to land bullseyes a few times. My in-laws are both left-hand dominant, and Shelby had no difficulty reversing his techniques so they could be efficient axe throwers.
The other aspect I really enjoyed was the relaxed atmosphere. While competing, there are electronic scoreboards above the lanes, and the coach keeps track of points, but the objective of your time at Urban Axes is focused on the experience. The coaches want everyone to learn how to properly throw an axe and discover a new and highly enjoyable activity. Other companies are fixated on the competition and bragging rights, but we all walked out with the biggest smiles cause we all won.
I highly recommend reserving your time at Urban Axes for any group. It’s a fantastic experience and you’ll have the best time with Shelby!

Went to Urban Axes with a few friends and honestly had a great time. The place has a chill vibe — kind of that mix between bar-hangout and “I can’t believe I’m throwing sharp things indoors” .

The staff were super friendly and made sure everyone felt safe before we started. They gave a quick run-down on how to throw, then let us go wild (in a safe way lol). Took me a few tries to stick one, but once I did, it was addicting.

The setup was clean, music was good, and the energy just felt fun. It’s one of those spots where you end up laughing the whole time without realizing how fast the hour goes by.

Only thing — wish the sessions were a bit longer, ‘cause it flies by once you’re in it. But yeah, overall super fun spot. Definitely hitting it again sometime

First time here, loved how friendly and welcoming all the staff were. After we signed in, we walked to our bay, I got a beer from the bar, and then the staff member in charge of our bay walked us through the rules and gave some instructions on how to correctly throw the axes. I believe the staff member was Max, he was great and showed us different games while keeping score during all the games. Can’t wait to go back there in the future.

I’d rate it lower if possible, customer service was non existent waited almost 20 mins for our parking pass and you cannot play alone you have to play as a team against another team. No time extensions given even after the delay of service.

Never threw axes before. None of us ever have. But wow was it fun. Great time. Tons of fun.

Guys who worked there were wonderful. Axes were in great shape as were the targets. Scoring was neat and the tournament style game they set up was entertaining.

Definitely go!!!

We had a great time as a group of friends! Shelby was a great coach and was guiding us throughout our session. He was so kind and even made sure that we would get all of our allocated time. I would definitely come back. The place is spacious and they had a lot of drink and snack options. They have free parking right outside and gave you parking permits so it was really convenient to travel here.

It’s in the old riverside kawasaki location. I think everyone in my group was new to axe throwing and it was a good time. The drink selection was a little too “try to be hip” for my taste. I think they may have had some kind of food, but we didn’t get anything so I can’t judge.
