During Covid, this place was my go to chicken, avocado salad, and a chicken sandwich, I switched it up a bit. I’m Into the burger now I’m a rewards points member and you actually do get stuff from the app discounts the senior discount 2 PM to 5 PM save two or three bucks. They got an after eight menu. You also save two or three bucks. But I find that the food is fresh. I’ve never had a stale bun, Or bad luck and vegetables never it’s just a good solid place to eat. I’m glad I live so close, I’ve seen the staff change. I’ve seen a slight up and down today. I see a solid staff. I’d say I go there twice a week so I have a good opinion they have a McDonald’s next-door and I laugh because I know those people are eating garbage For the same price and less of a variety, I just wish they had chicken wings.

Fast food, but better fast food than one would get at a burger joint. Juicy beef sandwiches with tasty bread and toppings and good enough fries. All in all what I was looking for in a quick Italian beef sandwich before the Metal Threat Festival in Elgin. Good stuff for a Washingtonian tourist!

After waiting on the drive though and confirming our order. They gave us a burger instead of chicken. Drove 4 miles home only to go back. Barely an apology from the manager, then waited 10 minutes to get the correct food. The manager never came back , he sent another employee to hand us our food, without an apology, or any kind of compensation for our time. Our receipt wasn’t given back to us, perhaps they thought I would call corporate. An later later we are finally eating our drive though food… I don’t recommend this place. If a negative for stars were possible that’s how I would rated this place .

I absolutely love Chicago style Italian Beef sandwiches and anytime I visit the Chicagoland area I try to visit a Portillo’s. But on this trip I wanted to try other brands, so I came here based on the reviews.

I went on a weeknight and simply ordered a kid’s size Italian Beef. I simply wanted to try how they do their sandwich. Service at the register was helpful (as I had a couple questions) and friendly. The restaurant was really busy, both inside and the drive-thru and the staff was friendly. The place was clean and I have to say it was quite accommodating, like a full-service restaurant.

My kid’s size Italina beef came to my table about 10 mins after I sat down, which is reasonable, especially with their level of business. This kid’s meal came with their crinkle cut fries and I have to say, they were amazing! Crispy and tasty and piping hot too! The Italian Beef sandwich itself was perfect! The beef was tender and moist and nicely sliced. The bread was perfect. The seasoning on the meat was excellent and the au jus was equaly as great! The combo of all these items together were what I dream of from the East Coast (where we don’t have anything similar).

Overall… Everything was great! And their kid’s meal is a nice deal for those not seeking tons of food!! Their restroom was nice and clean too. Highly recommend this place!

8/2024 4* I got the Alfredo pasta with a piece of grilled chicken. It was quite tasty. The staff was friendly enough, and the order came out pretty fast. I was disappointed by two things though. First was the price. $14 for a small bowl of pasta and a thin piece of grilled chicken. It all tasted fantastic. Just thought the price was a little more than I wanted to pay for this. The second thing was the piece of bread I got. Same loaf of bread I think as the Italian beef. Not a big problem, but it was 4″ long and was not cut. So I had to get my own knife to cut it. And then there was no butter given. So I had to get my own knife, not provided, and my own butter. Other than that, it was a good tasty meal. I enjoyed it.

A fun to eat Chicago fast food place. You can have your sandwich fully soaked or partially soaked in the French drip tradition (okay, it’s Italian not French…:) giving it an increased beefy flavor.. decent fries. Decent sausage. All in all, it’s a decent place to come though. Is it worth going probably far out of your way? If you’ve never had an Italian shaved beef in Chicago, it’s worth stopping.

Gwen was INCOMPETENT… She was so bad the manager had to help. She took 15 minutes to process 3 individuals FIRE HER. If it’s her first 2 weeks don’t put her on the Friday lunch rush behind the only available register that receives cash. The food also isn’t amazing but isn’t bad but it’s fast food so what do you expect. Just go to Portillos because at the very least it’s faster than Gwen serving you to go the extra distance and back. Legend has it she’s only gotten through 5 people to this day.

Had not been in a while. Bacon cheeseburger was gross. Very salty and something tasted bad. The meat? Hard to finish the sandwich. Fries were old and not hot. When did they get crinkle cut. They suck! Previous fries were much better. Seriously disappointed in the drop in quality since my last visit. Ill try a beef next time.

Whenever we’re in the area, we make it a point to stop in for an Italian beef sandwich, baptized with hot peppers. It’s consistently delicious every time. They also offer other solid menu options worth trying. I haven’t visited any of their other locations, but this one serves an amazing sandwich.
