The food, atmosphere, and kindness of all staff as soon as we walked in exceeded our expectations.
Would recommended to anyone looking for a new and unique dining experience. We will be back no doubt.
We came to KPOT to celebrate my fiancé’s birthday and had never tried hot pot before, so we weren’t sure what to expect. From the moment we sat down, our server David was AMAZING. He walked us through the entire process step-by-step, explained how everything worked, and made it feel so easy and fun.
He even made several delicious dipping sauces for us to try and they were SO good! You can tell he genuinely cares about giving guests a great experience.
Hands down the best service we’ve ever received in Midland, Texas. We’ll definitely be back!
To start with the positive, our server was genuinely great. They were attentive, polite, and kept checking in to see if we needed anything. Their service was the highlight of the evening and truly appreciated.
However, the overall dining experience was disappointing. For a restaurant that charges what K Pot does, I expected a much higher standard in presentation and ambience. The biggest issue was that the food was served in plastic plates, and the soup came with plastic spoons. Eating hot soup out of a plastic spoon and having everything served on plastic dishes felt cheap and uncomfortable. It completely took away from what should have been an enjoyable hot pot experience. There’s something very unappetizing about paying a premium price and then feeling like you’re dining with disposable ware.
The ambience also didn’t justify the cost. It lacked the warmth and inviting atmosphere you’d expect from a proper sit-down dining experience. When you combine that with the plastic cutlery and overall presentation, it just doesn’t feel worth the amount being charged.
Another major letdown was the fact that this is advertised as a buffet. When you hear “buffet,” you expect variety and quality across all stations, especially desserts. Unfortunately, the dessert counter was so disappointing that it was almost impossible to enjoy anything from it. The desserts were extremely dry and tasted like store-bought items that had been sitting out for too long. There was nothing fresh, soft, or indulgent about them. For a buffet-style restaurant, having such a poorly maintained dessert section really diminishes the overall experience.
I sincerely hope the management considers upgrading their plates and cutlery to proper dining ware and significantly improving the dessert quality and buffet presentation. Small changes like that would make a huge difference in how customers perceive the value of the restaurant.
Overall, while the service was commendable, the food presentation, dessert quality, and overall ambience need serious improvement to justify the price. I left feeling underwhelmed and unlikely to return unless meaningful changes are made.
On our last visit earlier, Guan (not sure about the spelling) really stood out. He was very attentive, and the sauces he prepared were so good! We’ll definitely be looking for him again next time.
