So happy to have found and tried this restaurant! Fair warning, other the prices for item beat other Venezuelan restaurants, it’s still priced as a luxury. Think Starbucks pastries. Tried the shredded chicken and shredded beef arapa’s. They come with delicious white cheese! But also with mayo and ketchup normally. Unless you love ketchup and/or mayo, recommend ordering that on the side for your first time. I grew up eating them without Mayo, or ketchup. Finally, try the cassava/yucha and cheese pastry, and the potato and cheese empanada. Both were delicious, crispy, and the empanada was flaky. Came with a pinkish hot sauce and a white sauce reminiscent of ranch but not as fancy. All was delicious. Hope to come back and try the pizza pastries, and the sweet plantain pastries. Forgot to ask if any of this was fried, so come on a cheat day, and if you’re in the mood or Venezuelan, or to try something new if you’re not familiar. Passion fruit/parchita juice available! Sweet, tart, and refreshing. Like a mango limeade but better. I mix it with water though to smooth it out.

I wanted to check this place out as I past it many times. This little restaurant serves Venezuelan pastelitos or pizza pockets. It was quite busy on Sat lunch as the place was 3/4 occupied but we took ours to go. My son and I chose the following:

Napoli pizza pastelito
Pepperoni pizza pastelito
Especial pastelito
Jalapeno pizza pastelito
Potato and cheese pastelito

These were pretty decent size deep fried pizza pocket where 1 or 2 can fill you up since it was greasy. It also came with a white sauce as a side to dip. Honestly I didnt think much of it. Out of the 5 my fave was Pepperoni since you can actually see the Pepperoni however the downside was the lack of the main filling i.e. hardly to no potato, or barely any jalapenos. All I tasted was gooey cheese. I wish these were labeled because I didn’t know which pastelito was the one that I ordered so my son took a bite of each one to see what was inside lol!

Oh my God this place was incredibly amazing. I am a Venezuelan and I always look for Venezuelan food in Houston area because I live around two hours away and where I live I don’t get to eat Venezuelan that often unless I cook my self lol,
I ate in many restaurants in Houston and I can say this is one of the best ones if it’s not the first best one , the empanadas were extremely incredible shredded beef, my favorite, the Pastelitos oh my God , parchita juice or passionfruit if you want to say I highly recommend this place. I really enjoy it not because I am a Venezuelan is really good quality foood, you won’t regret going here for sure.

I had never heard of Pastel Pizza until today and decided to try them out. It had good reviews and was close to where I was located.

I was expecting a typical pizza place but I was wrong. I wasn’t sure what I was looking at on the menu board. I asked the order taker what they were and she explained it’s a large, fresh made pizza pocket.

I tried 3 different ones. They came out crispy from being deep fried. The cheese inside each one was gooey and the filling was just the right amount. Each one was absolutely delicious! 3 was just right amount.

They are very reasonably priced. 3 of them plus drink was $13.

I am not from this area but will definitely try to find other locations.

I like the pocket style pizzas. Not sure what the real name is, but they were crunchy and very good. I also appreciate the different varieties– pepperoni, combination, cheese…

I don’t think they offer pizza slices though.

I had an amazing experience at Pastel Pizza! The atmosphere is super welcoming, and the staff are incredibly friendly and attentive. The food itself is on another level — You can really tell they put a lot of care into their food. I also loved the unique flavors they offer — definitely not your average Venezuelan place. Highly recommend checking them out if you’re in the Mason area. I’ll definitely be coming back!
