Went to Mi Tocaya for a second time and loved it again. We had the guacamole which if you are not into spicy dont order as it is very spicy but amazing. Then we had the aguachile which was amazingly delicious. Finally we share the pork in salsa de mole which was extremely good and huge we each made two tacos, ate from the bone and still had more to take home for a full meal. Margaritas were really good too!!

We’ve been here multiple times and have never been let down. It’s a great spot for every day dining but we especially love to bring out of town friends and celebrate special occasions here. The food is always top notch and so lovingly thought out. We routinely go to Michelin starred restaurants and Mi Tocaya is our favorite place to eat in Chicago.
We recently went to their New Years Eve Pre Fixe dinner, something different than the normal menu. Chef Davila explained every dish and everything was a 10/10. We’ll be back a million more times.

What a perfect evening with such a wonderful team at the restaurant. Everyone was so welcoming and thoughtful with suggestions. Everything was delicious but the favourites were the pulpo (octopus) and the barbacoa tacos. Cocktails were delightful and they were very considerate about gluten free needs. The tortillas were heaven and the flan for dessert wrapped everything up perfectly. Highly recommend and top quality service.

Without PBS cooking shows I would not have known about this incredible newer restaurant. Tocaya did not disappoint in standing out and being different from other Mexican restaurants. Be prepared that the meals are priced higher than traditional Mexican restaurants with smaller portions.
There was so many unique dishes to try, a sampler or fixed course menu could be useful. The fish tacos were the best dish ordered at the table.

Had an incredible meal at Mitocaya yesterday! Everything was perfectly seasoned and full of flavor. We loved the food and will definitely be back for more.

All the food was seasoned perfectly which I think many restaraunts of this level struggle to do. Standouts were the pork tenderloin dish, fish tacos, and the squash blossom atolados.

The lobster enchiladas were tasty and unique, but the real standout was the salsa. Probably the best I’ve had in the city—if you’re like me and often find Chicago restaurant salsa mediocre, give this one a try! I look forward to returning, both to enjoy the salsa again and to try more entrees.

Do yourself a favor and make a reservation. If you like Mexican food and you want to see how these flavors can be incorporated in fresh creative dishes, you will enjoy the journey.
The mole is one of the best in the city. Every plate had amazing flavor. Even vegetarian dishes that I normally wouldn’t be excited about, left the table cleared. The black beans, which were recommended by the restaurant were probably the best I’ve ever had.
We had a reservation for a large party and they knocked it out of the park. The service was top notch and they frequently checked in for new cocktails. Everyone in the group raved about this dinner.

So happy to have finally tried this spot! I’ve passed it for years and just never got around to it. It did not disappoint and the patio was a great dining experience even though it’s just off a busy street.
I loved the chips and salsa, aguachile, and the octopus dishes.

Really enjoyed this restaurant. We had made reservations and sat inside. I will say the food was more on the spicier side but I enjoyed that. There was a lot of flavor in the food and drinks. Their outdoor patio is so cute with lights and has a great ambiance
