I want to preface this that I would eat here again. There are plenty of options on the menu that look delicious.
I’m not a big fan of this new service model where you order through an app at your table so you don’t get interaction with a server (but then it still asks you to tip) I get it but personal preference will always be a real person serving.
The shinning stars of my stop were my sides and the bbq sauces. I tried the sweet potato fries and cheesy bacon potato’s. They were both cooked to perfection and very flavorful. The sauces were out of this world I liked them so much I bought bottles to serve with my Christmas smoked brisket! I got the spicy red and the blackberry sauces. Unfortunately the most underwhelming part of my meal was the meat and that’s what you come for at a smoke house. The brisket lacked flavor and was moderately dry. The ribs were flavorful but not smoked long enough so hard to get the meat off the bones. My guess is I just didn’t get a good batch of meat and based on the reviews I would try again and probably be cooked perfect. The last thing that was a bit annoying is after 10% tip and tax this cost me $32 because they have the pick 2 meats meal that comes with 2 sides but then it charges you extra for brisket and ribs and sweet potato fries. The restaurant was very clean and buzzing while I was there but not too loud. I would definitely stop in again and try more menu items.

Right away — delicious food and great atmosphere!

Staff was super friendly and professional — we were welcomed, seated, and served almost instantly. We ordered through the QR code menu, which was very convenient. No need to flag anyone down, but I’m sure the staff would’ve handled it just as well without it.

As for the food — everything was great. We tried burgers and their signature meat skillet — everything was flavorful and clearly cooked with care.

We really enjoyed it and will definitely be back!

Used to be one of our favorite restaurants. The food is still very good, we especially enjoyed the nachos, the Mac & cheese, and of course the various meats available. However, many menu favorites have been removed or changed and the atmosphere and service left a lot to be desired. The food did come out very promptly, however this restaurant has shifted from a full-service restaurant to an order on app and do everything else for yourself kind of place. No one was available to answer questions about the menu, refill sauce, or bring take-out boxes when needed. Paying $15-$20+ per person per meal, it’s a little annoying having to cycle in and out of a booth to refill drinks and track staff down for other items. The atmosphere also left a lot to be desired, many of the tables have been removed, there’s no music, it’s nowhere near as busy as before, and it’s just missing the fun-upscale vibe it had before. It feels like a restaurant barely hanging on. I’ve been enjoying Smoked since it started in a cart on the downtown mall, and I really miss the original Crozet concept.

Smoked delivered a good meal and decent prices (for most items)!

We visited Smoked while in town visiting family. Our visit was on a weekend evening between 5 and 8pm, the establishment was not busy.

Smoked is set up in a way that prefers you to order via their online App. This is a trend that I have noticed is gaining popularity in the restaurant scene. If you prefer not to use the app a staff member can still talk your order for you at the front desk.

On this trip I ordered a customized burger with fries and a drink. The food did not take long at all from time of order to time it hit the table, and was hot and of good quality. Prices were about on par with expectations regarding the quality of the meal.

As a side note, while reviewing the menu and deciding on what I was going to eat I noticed an option for 5 “jumbo” Chicken wings for $12. I am unsure how jumbo these wings are, as we did not order them, but I cannot imagine any wing is jumbo enough to warrant almost two and a half dollars per wing. Thankfully most of the menu items, in my opinion, are very reasonably priced with the exception to this anomaly.

Overall when I find myself back in Crozet it is very likely I will end up back at Smoked at some point. The dining experience was perfectly average and with a mostly well priced menu there are still plenty of options to try out.

The three meat platter allowed us to try the brisket, pulled pork, ribs with collard greens and coleslaw. Everything was fantastic

Rueben was amazing and brisket was very tender. Fried pickles and the chicken sandwich brought us back a second time.

This was such a great find! We stumbled on it while looking for a place to pick apples. We ordered the you pick 3 and got the ribs, brisket and pulled pork. The baked beans had jalapeño in them and were not too sweet. The collards with pork were done just right. The corn bread is definitely the sweet variety so if you like savory cornbread this might not be for you. They make a wide range of their own sauces and have a surprising number of interesting sides that are not typically found at a restaurant. They have quite a few desserts too. Natalie, the owner, was so helpful and welcoming. The vibe is great, and it was not too loud, but we were there on a Wednesday so it may change on busier days. All in all, I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great place to eat.

The atmosphere is great, quiant but sophisticated. The food is beyond good. I came here based off the reviews and wasn’t disappointed in the slightest. I had the pleasure of Natalie, the owner, to be my server. The sauces were fire, especially the carolina firewater and the spicy red. If i wasnt just visiting id be here more than i should. Wonderful all around.

I was in Crozet for a 1 day survey job which happened to be right outside of this restaurant. Decided to stop in for lunch(the smoke smell drew me in). All I can say is WOW! Brisket, chicken, slaw, and potato salad are all amazing. My waitress/ hostess was also very nice. If I’m ever back in the area I will definitely be stopping back in.

Phenomenal food, I was craving ribs while in Virginia and smoked kitchen SHOWED UP. I love how they do their menu, QR code at the table, order as many meats and sides a la carte. We tried all the sauces, my favorite was the spicy red. Don’t sleep on the pickles and the bottled birch beer! Everything came out quick but they were really slow at 4:30 on a Sunday. The only thing that didn’t hit was the cornbread, but it was easily forgiven.
