My family and I ate here for the first time last night (Jan.28, 2026). The first thing we noticed was the warm inviting atmosphere. We were greeted promptly and with smiles. The server was willing to answer any questions we had and was very knowledgeable about the place and the food. I ordered the Mandarin Chicken and the plate was stacked. The chicken was warm and crispy and the sauce was also warm and had the right amount of sweetness without being overbearing. My daughter is a super picky eater, and loved the curry fried rice. My wife had the mapo tufu, and her only issue was how soft the tufu was, but she said the server warned her it was made with extra soft tufu. The dishes range about $7-$20, which i usually avoid spending that much, but it was worth it. The plates are big and full, and the food is absolutely amazing. We are already talking about when we are going to the Mandarin house again.

I had a fantastic experience at Mandarin House. The food was absolutely amazing, with rich flavors and perfect seasoning. I especially appreciated the medium spice level—it added just the right amount of heat without being overwhelming. The atmosphere was subdued and peaceful, making it a great place to enjoy a relaxing meal. Overall, I enjoyed it very much and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for delicious Chinese cuisine in a calm, welcoming setting.

Went here last night, apparently they were down a cook, but we were not notified of this at the beginning of the meal. Instead we were told 5 different dishes we wanted to order were not available because they wouldn’t make them due to missing a chef. If we had known what kind of dishes we wouldn’t be able to order at the beginning, we would have left. My mom is on a medication that makes it difficult for her to enjoy food. She was looking forward to the egg-foo yung, they were not willing to make it. We ordered the calamari appetizer, we were given the entree (and charged for it). I had never had it here before so I didn’t catch the mistake until later. The combo plate was horrible, the fried shrimp batter was the texture of a cake/corndog, the shrimp inside was tough and dry. The sweet and sour chicken had the same batter, chicken was hard and dry. Hardly any sauce, and they brought out a plate of ketchup and mustard?! No sweet and sour? Maybe it’s supposed to be like a corn dog, idk. My sister got the beef and broccoli, which tasted okay, but the beef had the strangest texture I’ve ever experienced. It did not look like beef, it looked like cartilage or some kind of organ meat honestly. We didn’t eat it. My food was fine. I would have thought they would have offered a discount for not being able to make the egg foo yung, the pan fried potstickers, and the correct calamari we asked for. But no, they charged us full price for a thing we didn’t order, and they substituted for us without our knowledge. Since I was the only one who had something edible, we just left as fast as we could and had to go somewhere else. No point in asking for a replacement when we didn’t have faith it would be any better. We will not be coming back.

This Chinese restaurant, which I accidentally discovered during my journey, definitely exceeded my expectations. Let me share my genuine impressions:

1、This long-established Chinese restaurant has been in business for 44 years and carries a great sense of Chinese culture throughout the entire establishment. Traditional elements such as lion dances, lanterns, theatrical costumes, and traditional prints create a rich ambiance. The tables even have introductions about the restaurant and information about the city. The bill is stamped with the owner Kevin’s portrait, showing great attention to detail.

2、Kevin is extremely welcoming and not only introduces the dishes but also provides information about the city.

3、Having operated for 44 years, the menu covers a wide range of cuisines, including Cantonese, Sichuan, and American-style Chinese food. While some dishes have been adjusted and adapted to local American tastes, the overall flavor remains true to Chinese cuisine. The seasoning is well-balanced, and the chef’s culinary skills are impressive. Every dish we ordered exceeded my expectations. It’s hard to imagine such high-quality Chinese food in a city with such a small Chinese population.

4、Thanks to Kevin’s introduction, I gained some knowledge about the city. After finishing our meal, my family and I took the opportunity to visit Old Town.

5、If you are traveling back to Salt Lake City from West Yellowstone Town, this restaurant is approximately a 2-2.5 hour drive away. It is a great option for a dining stop along the way, and you will have a wonderful experience. Additionally, the prices are very pleasing, offering excellent value for money.

Food was okay and the prices weren’t bad, but the atmosphere has been consistently negative every time I’ve visited. I’ve been here a couple of times now, and each visit I’ve heard loud bossing around, yelling, and poor communication from certain staff members. At some moments it even felt a bit awkward because of how tense things were. It makes the environment uncomfortable, especially when you’re just trying to enjoy a meal. The food itself is decent for a small-town Chinese restaurant, but with the constant negativity, I wouldn’t recommend bringing family here.

The spicy pork was outstanding and so was our server Kevin. We needed to make a flight and he did everything to make sure we caught it on time! Whether you are passing by or live near by you should give this place a try.

Are you cutting back help or did somebody call in sick. Because the poor lady today and the guy up front was trying to serve 8 tables of 5+ and 4 tables of 2+ and they did the best they could.. But to me it looked like you was cutting corners on service and it sucked. And just so you know I’ve been eating mandarin house since they was next to great American video. Love your food
