Everything you’d expect from a Coney Island. Perfectly serviceable food. Not out of this world, not terrible. Good service. Fine portions.

So we’ve eaten here a few times and have almost always been pleased with the food and service. However tonight that all changed. We started with soup. The lemon rice had good flavor as usual, but wasn’t cooked all the way. Had some crunchy rice chunks, and just under cooked rice. No big deal as we’d look past that, but then the rest of the food came out.
She ordered the crispy chicken pita with fries and chili on the side for the fries.
The fries were so over cooked they seemed as if they were cooked once then recooked again till completely crunchy. Her chicken in the pita was over cooked and so dry that when she went to cut pieces of the chicken to give to our puppy as this truly wasn’t fit to eat as a meal. The chicken just crunched and popped apart rather than cut.

I ordered the steak hoggie minus onion and pepper add tomato.
It came out nice and hot looked good, but I asked for a side of mayo for it and the waitress brought me a plastic Togo cup. I spend it on the hoggie to realize there were chunks in it. I tasted it and it was Blue Cheese. I scraped it off the best I could and asked for mayo. She kept coming back saying that those are in the mayo spot and is mayo. So I opened 1 and spread it on a napkin so she could see the chunks. She then said we’ll maybe they switched it from mayo to miracle whip. And insisted that’s what probably happened. It had chunks of blue cheese in it.
So then I tried my hoggie and sure enough it tasted like blue cheese. Yuck.
So I said that it now tastes blue cheese and the waitress didn’t care at all. I didn’t eat. I’m giving it to my puppy with the rest of the messed up order.
No nothing done to right the wrong not even an apology. Just an excuse that maybe the mayo was changed to miracle whip. Which by the way i love both and would had used either lol.
Also almost the entire time while we sat at the counter other waitresses are complaining loud enough for everyone to hear and it was about their tips and not getting tips.
Had enough of this place. I wish them well
I’m still getting used to “Coney Island” restaurants in the Metro area being more than just hot dog places. I’m glad for it, just adjusting still.
This particular place has something I wish more restaurants had: tennis balls on the feet of all the chairs & stools. Since the floor is concrete this is a really nice addition that keeps the noise down in such a big open area.
The menu is big. From breakfast to coneys to seafood, salads and Greek food. Yum.
As it’s my first time in here, and it’s lunch, two coneys it is. They showed up – on a plate, not in a styrofoam container – about two minutes later. And they were tasty.
I didn’t witness anyone yelling or barking at staff or customers while I was in. Maybe I just missed the floor show between performances?
The staff were fun, fast & friendly throughout my visit.

Update: Please forgive my delay in updating my further experience w manager Chuck on the above experience. After speaking with the manager, I found him to be understanding and professional and willing to rectify the problem to my satisfaction. I was refunded for the charge error and also given a gift card for future dining. ❤️
