What a hidden gem right in the heart of downtown! We stopped in during weekday happy hour, and while it wasn’t too busy, the vibe was absolutely perfect. The staff were amazing—super friendly, attentive, and quick to take our order and check in throughout the meal. You could tell they genuinely cared about making sure we had a great experience.

The pub itself is cozy, beautifully decorated, and bursting with Irish charm—there’s even a countdown to St. Paddy’s Day that adds a fun touch! We kicked things off with the Irish nachos (HIGHLY recommend!), then I had the bangers and mash (pictured) while my wife went for the chicken pot pie. Both dishes were phenomenal—comfort food perfection.

We saved room for dessert and ended with the bread pudding… WOW. Warm, rich, and the perfect sweet finish. And get this—happy hour beers were only $3.50! Incredible value for such quality food and service.

Our only regret? Not finding this place sooner! We’re already planning our next visit to try more of the menu. If you’re looking for authentic Irish fare, great prices, and friendly vibes, this is the spot. Sláinte!

Bushwallers is okay overall, especially for takeout. The food was decently priced and tasted fine. The shepherd’s pie was decent, though the meat mixture was a little too sweet for my taste. The burger was pretty good for a bar-style meal.

However, when I went inside to pick up my order, the experience changed my impression. The place felt very dirty and unorganized, and it immediately made me question the overall cleanliness. It definitely seems more like a bar than a restaurant, which might explain some of it, but it still wasn’t a great feeling.

Food was fine, prices were fair, but the inside atmosphere and cleanliness were a big downside.

Dec 2025: Cozy Irish pub in old town Frederick, MD. The vibe and setting was pretty cool. The beer was flat and the food just ok, specifically the Po’ Boy sandwich. Shrimp was over-fried and were small; stuff kept falling out of the bun, not enough fries to go with and frankly just did not taste good. Rate that meal a 4/10. Maybe the other menu items are better.

I visit often to play darts in a fantastic atmosphere with amazing food and great drinks. The shepherd’s pie is the best, but don’t snooze on their burgers- they are delicious! Pictured are sliders- but they’re huge! Large whiskey menu and Guinness on draft. They have a great brunch menu, also! Go eat here.

January 2026: We did not eat. We came in at Midnight for a quick drink and stayed for 3. It looks like every other Irish Bar, but the energy was amazing. 10 points to Bushwaller’s for being a late night spot (in Frederick) during the week.

Bushwallers is honestly my safe place. There’s just something about it that always feels comfortable and familiar the moment you walk in. It’s cozy, the food is always amazing, the drinks never miss, and the staff are genuinely some of the friendliest, most welcoming people you’ll meet. ❤️

My husband and I come here every week for our date night and it’s become one of our favorite routines we look forward to. ☘️ ️‍

It’s the kind of place where everyone feels welcome, no matter who you are, and that really means a lot. Whether you’re stopping in for a meal, drinks, or just a good atmosphere, Bushwallers never disappoints.

Highly recommend giving it a try!!

Went to Frederick for the weekend, and the guy running the knife shop across the street recommended this place without hesitation when I asked for a restaurant around town for dinner. He said, “You must go and get the Irish Farmhouse burger; don’t question it, just do it.”

So we did! My boyfriend got the burger, and I got their shepherd’s pie. The food was incredible and served fast; they have a great staff, and while we weren’t at the bar, I could see that they were all engaging in conversation with the patrons.

Incredible place, quick service, great food, and a dedicated countdown to St. Patrick’s Day behind the bar. What more could one ask for in an Irish pub!
