I swing by here maybe twice a week, plus early mornings sometimes to work on writing. Staff eventually came to recognize me and welcome me by name – “Mornin’ Will” kind of thing – and know my regular drink order. Well, this morning I came in to do some writing, and I brought a novelty item with me just to have a chuckle at my own sense of humor, but it ended up being a fun moment for everybody there. Paid for two venti’s and they poured all of both into this mug. Good news is, we all had a laugh and I got my coffee. Bad news is, I won’t need coffee for a week so I won’t be back for a good minute!
I don’t often get food here, but it’s yummy when I do. Service is usually quick and friendly, and only very rarely slow but I understand that flow just gets clogged sometimes. Atmosphere is, well, Starbucks, which was designed around being cozy very much on purpose. Nice lighting, comfortable-enough furniture, and unintrusive music.

They were so mean to my family. They looked like they didn’t even listen to our order. We were being so nice to them, but they weren’t to us and the food was low quality. It was cold the drinks on the other case was pretty good, but I would never go to the Starbucks ever again. I would rather go to another Starbucks because I had a horrible experience today form that and their boss was specifically being rude to our family, we were just there just to get some drinks and some food because we were on a road trip to Atlanta Georgia to visit my auntie but still, please be nicer next time if I even go.

I recently experienced clear discrimination at this Starbucks store. I arrived at this store in September 2025 before I headed back home to Tennessee following a month long vacation and road trip that I had planned for myself to celebrate getting my Masters and to take a break from caring for my grandad who has dementia. I had assignments due that day so I was planning to get all my work done early that morning before heading back to TN and had visited Huntsville to consider UAH for my doctorate. What I experienced when I entered this store was shocking. When I pulled up I ate my breakfast in the car and grabbed 2 batteries for my new Bluetooth wireless keyboard and also refilled my Dr. Bronners travel size hand soap bottle that I use because I have sensitive skin and don’t use commercial soaps in public restrooms. I’m also in the process of moving so I have most of my stuff already in my car as well as road trip essentials during my vacation, a cooler etc. When I grabbed my backpack which is my laptop bag and turned around to enter the store, I noticed a woman staring at me from the door. I felt that was odd but didn’t make any assumptions, though clearly she did. I sat my school backpack down and as I was about to place my mobile order, I asked for a water. The barista said to place my order first then she’ll give me a water. I was shocked by that because that was a first. I’ve never been denied service or water at a Starbucks as a paying customer or had such mistaken assumptions made. I was dressed in my Nike apparel and was about to set my laptop up to start work. This was pure ignorance & prejudice and discrimination from the employees. When I approached the order counter, I asked the lady if she was the manager (Inika) and she said yes. I said were you staring at me when I was at my car? (She clearly had targeted me and established a bias and prejudice before I entered the store). She said “you saw me cleaning tables, I definitely wasn’t staring at *you*” in a condescending, rude tone. She said “are you going to place an order?” I said “I was, however this experience is unacceptable and you clearly are mistaken about me and are misjudging me. I’m traveling, I’m currently getting my Masters online, and I’m a Hilton Honors Gold Member.” She then LAUGHED at me with complete mockery. I opened my Hilton Honors app on my phone and showed her my Gold status. I said “Yeah.” and walked toward the door. She got very nervous and said “Umm…Thank you!….” and I said ” No thanks from me, professionalism Ma’am” and I walked out the door. I chose a different Starbucks that day that treated me with the respect and dignity I deserve. I have no idea how this woman made such a miscalculation, but apparently in 2025 in the south, people are clueless and oblivious to business professionals working remotely, digital nomads traveling, independent young women who feel confident traveling solo, who are educated and skilled and getting their degrees online. I’m getting my Masters in Digital Marketing and a 2nd Masters in Positive Psychology. I’m also on my 3rd business endeavor. After this experience, I would love to do research for my PhD on how society negatively impacts individuals and influences bias and prejudice and influences misogyny from women against women. Society in 2025 is broken it seems. If the manager at this store can’t treat female customers with respect and dignity and is sizing them up from the door before they enter the store, then perhaps she needs more training on Starbucks Ethics & Discrimination Policies. After this incident, I will no longer be doing business with Starbucks and will instead choose higher end coffee.

If traveling on Hwy 72, I really find this location off Hughes Rd. to be pretty convenient because it’s on a main strip and there is the option to use their drive-thru for quick service if you prefer to remain on-the-go. The surrounding view outside is nice and it’s located near a couple of shopping centers as well as local restaurants, gas stations, bars, and a few local attractions. The service is pretty nice and I was able to introduce myself to the manager, Sam. I plan to capture more photos to present as a better picture of this location, and was told to return on a more opportune day, so updated photos will follow. I’m looking forward to continuing to drop by here and there whenever possible and am a happy, caffeinated customer. Thanks!

I have a complaint that I hope gets rectified and noticed. Twice lately I have ordered a Tall latte at the new Madison/Balch store. It’s bad enough prices have gone up so much that I had to pay over $6 for this now but even worse when only half of my drink is coffee. I get soy milk and ask still for a little whipped cream. This is the second time I’ve notice that when taking a sip I have to tip the cup a lot more than necessary. This just plain sucks. I expect my coffee to be correct or at least fill the expensive cup that I ordered most of the way.
Otherwise they have met my expectations. Maybe it’s an employee not properly trained.

My wife and I were running some errands and needed a pick-me-up so we pulled into the parking lot of Starbucks located at 7779 Highway 72 West Madison, AL 35758. There was the usual long line at the drive-thru so we opted to go inside and place our order.
Inside the shop there was only two people ahead of us so our order was taken quickly. My wife ordered her usual, tall double shot Carmel latte and a slice of Iced Lemon Pound Cake. I ordered a tall double shot Mocha with whole milk and three Petite Vanilla Bean Scones. I was only going to get one Scone but Starbucks has a special so I ordered three instead of the one. The Lemon cake and Scones were provided right away by our cashier.
After waiting about ten minutes I received my Tall Double Shot Mocha. My wife received an incorrect order an Iced Carmel Latte so her order had to be remade. But once she received the hot Tall Double Shot Carmel Latte she was happy. Our beverages were hot and soothing. The iced Lemon Pound Cake was fresh and moist. My Vanilla Bean Scones taste like a sweet biscuit as do scones. The Vanilla Bean flavor was very tasty.
Starbucks is very popular as a meeting place for college students and business associates are has a quiet atmosphere. Starbucks make sumo the best coffee, latte’s and mocha so we enjoy treating ourselves occasionally. Occasionally as it is an expensive caffeinated beverage but they aero consistent with the recipes. The staff is always friendly and professional.

Sunday 5:00 AM to 10:00 PM
Tomorrow 4:30 AM to 10:00 PM

Honestly, I think Starbucks is really gone downhill, the workers don’t seem happy and taken care of, the drinks are usually pretty cold once they finally come out and there is always a long wait. It’s honestly easier to make my coffee at home at this point. I hope that Starbucks does something to take care of their workers and change the practice because right now it’s not helping their business.

When I first walked in greeted with a smile from the barista Jordan. I didn’t have to wait long and when I received my drink it was the best caramel ribbon crunch frappuccino. Keep up the work guys!!
