I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for great Japanese food. I will definitely be coming back!
We spent six months in Japan this year and Masaki is the closest in Ontario to tasting like the sushi from Japan. It’s clean, it’s varied, and it’s even served with shisho leaf! The presentation is immaculate, too.
But the reason we come back is because of the sake. Masaki has a sake sommelier, Yoshi-san, and the pairings he’s chosen are an experience you can’t replicate elsewhere. He explains the philosophy behind the brewing and the food that goes well with each sake. He even designed his own sake that pairs with everything and tastes like roses (try it!).
Let him choose your flights and you’ll be happy.
We discovered Masaki accidentally while touring different wineries, and it stands beside them all. We can’t wait to come back!
My partner is also celiac and was guided to the menu options that were gluten free and safe for her to eat.
We visited Masaki for our anniversary, and it became our best anniversary dinner experience in 14 years. Everything, from the food to the service to the presentation, was exceptional.
We ordered the top sirloin don bowls, and they were absolutely phenomenal. The flavour profile was layered, rich, and perfectly balanced. Even the edamame, something usually so simple, was elevated with a beautiful sear and paired with an incredibly flavourful soy sauce. The miso soup was deep, bold, and comforting, easily one of the best we have ever tasted.
Presentation across all dishes was stunning. The Dragon Roll with barbecued eel genuinely impressed us. Despite having been to Japan, this was the best eel sushi we have ever had. The chef’s special gyoza were packed with flavour and unlike any gyoza we have tried before.
For dessert, Masaki surprised us with a complimentary plate to help us celebrate our anniversary, and that gesture meant a lot to us. The matcha cheesecake with red bean offered a perfect harmony of flavours. It was smooth, balanced, and beautifully plated. The mochi ice cream platter was a refreshing and delightful finish to the meal.
The service was just as remarkable as the food. The staff were friendly, attentive, and professional. Everything was well organized, and the steady flow of service made the entire evening feel comfortable and cared for.
We highly recommend this restaurant. Every dish we ordered was a perfect 10 out of 10, and the overall experience was unforgettable. Masaki made our anniversary truly special, and we will definitely be returning.
The service was excellent—our server was attentive and friendly. Unlike many other sushi spots, this isn’t an all-you-can-eat place. Instead, the focus is on quality, and I honestly found it much better. The prices are similar to an AYCE restaurant, but the amount of food you get is still very satisfying—especially if you’re a sensible eater. Some meals come with appetizers, and the sushi is prepared right in front of you at the bar, which adds a nice touch to the experience.
We also tried the sake, which came with a little note describing the tasting notes—floral, fruity, and so on. It was a thoughtful detail that made the experience even better.
The only drawback is that you do have to go down a small set of stairs to enter, which could be a challenge for those with mobility issues.
Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and we’ll definitely be back. Masaki Sushi is a great spot if you’re looking for delicious, freshly made sushi in a relaxed setting.
• Signature dishes: Favorites include the Masaki Roll, Dynamite Roll, Black Cod, and Lobster Miso Soup. The presentation is consistently described as “artful” and “Instagram-worthy”.
• Sake selection: With over 70 varieties, including a private-label sake brewed in Kyoto, the drink menu is one of the most extensive in Canada
