Our group ordered a pizza (half combo and half margarita), Italian hoagie, Italian pizza fries, mozzarella sticks, meatball hoagie, and the kids had spaghetti and Mac and cheese.
I will say the pizza didn’t impress us. It was just average in our opinion. We feel like it didn’t have much flavor. Maybe some of the other ones are better. The Italian hoagie was good and the fries that came with it were exactly what a French fry should be: crispy and hot on the outside and soft potato-y goodness on the inside. We had to order an additional side of fries because everyone at the table was snagging them! The mozzarella sticks were very tasty with an impressive cheese pull, some of the best we’ve had.
The Italian pizza fries had waaay too much cheese. The meatball sub was massive and hard to eat because the bread was very toasted and hard. The meatballs in it were tasty though.
The kids Mac and cheese was creamy and cheesy but also lacked flavor, the kids spaghetti was fine.
We would most likely come back again and maybe try a few other things on their menu. We left very full and with quite a few leftovers and overall everyone was satisfied.
We hit up Ole Piper after a full day at Mopars in the Park, and it turned out to be a solid find—especially for being in a strip mall. When you walk in, it smells like a Godfather’s Pizza from the early ’90s. If you know, you know.
The menu’s surprisingly big, but our waitress said 90% of folks order pizza—and she wasn’t kidding. We started with onion rings. Bit overcooked, but not bad. Probably better after a couple beers.
We got the bacon cheeseburger pizza on cracker-thin crust. It delivered—crispy, cheesy, and satisfying. An XL fed two of us easily, and we still took half home.
What sealed the vibe? The soundtrack. All late ’90s and early 2000s rock—Creed, Smashing Pumpkins, the works. It was like eating pizza inside your high school best friend’s car. No frills, just flavor and nostalgia.
Don’t come here for standout service or ambiance. Come for the kind of pizza that knows who it is, and the kind of playlist that reminds you who you were.
Here’s where the place really shines: The pizza is some of the best in the south metro area. They are generous with toppings (take a gander at the pictures) and the sauce is robust and flavorful. The deep-dish and the hand-tossed crusts are equally excellent. If you like an “everything on it” pie, check out the Piper Supreme — it’s something special that may compel overeating. We’ve loved every pizza we’ve tried, but the Piper’s Porker and the BBQ Chicken are also standouts.
The salads are plain but filling, and the appetizers we’ve tried are also satisfying. They provide a nice selection of beverages (both grown-up and kid friendly).
Overall, it’s one of our favorite pizza joints. Low-key, welcoming, and most of all, TASTY.
