Well, it certainly wasn’t like my Mama’s breakfast. I would look elsewhere for breakfast.

I love breakfast. And, I stopped at Yo Mama’s for brunch. I left disappointed.

I spent $20 for cafeteria coffee and food. The coffee was self serve from a Bunn carafe siting on the burner. I had to use a Chinet to-go cup. The coffee tasted like basic gas station or cafeteria coffee.

I also ordered the French toast with two patties of sausage. The French toast was soggy on the bottom, had a pedestrian sprinkle of powered sugar, and came with a small (not enough) plastic cup of “homemade syrup.” The syrup was blended with something. The toast was simply not up to par.

The atmosphere is much lie a college cafeteria. I could get past that if the food hit. But, it did not.

I was disappointed because I was hungry and the reviews, now I know, were misleading.

Breakfast is easy to get right. They did not. Some might say I should have tried more items. But, this isn’t my first rodeo trying new places. My experience is that when one item is prepared in such a haphazard, that this is foundational to the approach to food.

Delicious food! I have Celiac. Their gluten free chicken tenders and waffles, fried fish plate, and lemon cake bites are delicious. My husband orders their wings and LOVES them. All their lunch and brunch entrees have a gluten free option, and the ones that aren’t naturally gf have a regular option (fried chicken, fish, waffles, etc.)

Edit: The owner has commented that ALL their fried food is gluten free! I assumed since the menu states fried foods have a gf option that there was a “regular” option as well. I have also updated my review on the FindMeGF app to reflect this information.

This is such a vibe. We had the French toast, wings & waffles and the seafood omelet… everything was delicious. They had a homemade “syrup”… wasn’t that great (it’s butter based). They also had “cool Santa” that you took pictures with that was fun.

I was so impressed to find a restaurant in Birmingham that serves gluten free fried chicken! Flavorful, southern, GF fried chicken! It was delicious. I was able to eat without worry from meal to dessert. They have GF Mac and cheese in Tuesdays and GF French toast and pancakes on Saturday. The menu is vast and whether you avoid gluten or not there is something for everyone! The service was friendly and informative. Oh and try the in house beverages. They are delicious too. I give a big because I’ll be back.

Was looking for a burger place in downtown. Google recommended Yo’ Mama’s. Upon a first arrival, the restaurant was very clean and staffed with pleasant employees.

I ordered the barbecue burger minus the barbecue sauce (as I’m not a huge fan of bar sauce on my burgers). Which came with a side of fresh hand, cut fries and added a sweet tea.

We sat down and within five minutes, our food was delivered as ordered . I must tell you I’ve eaten burgers in a lot of places, but this was by far one of the best burgers I have had in my life. I don’t know what about the flavor was so good but it was outstanding. The fries had a seasoning on them which complimented everything and the sweet tea was homemade southern sweet tea.

my coworker got the fried chicken and said her meal was also delicious.

if you’re ever in the area, give these folks a shot you will not be sorry. It might even be on my list for tomorrow’s lunch ( here traveling for work).

This has been our favorite restaurant for years now. I have celiac, and my two kids inherited it from me, so there are very few places we can eat. Here, we can eat almost everything on the menu!

They have THE best chicken wings, fried catfish (hands down), shrimp and grits, and don’t get me started on the catfish sandwich (you gotta ask for that one, or get it at their sister restaurant Onabun), waffles (yes they have those, pancakes, biscuits, and cornbread gluten free).. mmm it’s good! The food is to die for!

We take picky people here that are skeptical of gluten free food.. and they can’t take their heads out of the dish long enough to talk while they’re eating. It’s that good!

My kids taste catfish anywhere else and say, “This ain’t catfish!”. But they love everything at Yo Mamas!

I can’t say enough good things about it because the food really is that good. But especially if you have to have gluten free: you will be addicted. Like, seriously addicted. You can eat anything fried, biscuits, waffles, pancakes, buns.. FRIED OREOS!! And they sell gluten free desserts at the counter too. And we have eaten there faar more times than we can count and have never gotten sick!

The staff are friendly and treat us like family. It’s just the best! Nowhere else compares!

Okay, but I wouldn’t go back. I had the bbq burger and my husband had the chicken and waffles. I also ordered the sweet tea. It was $3 and came in a plastic bottle so not a sit down type of drink with refills. And the tea was not good. The burger was okay and I liked the fries. The chicken and waffles were really bland with little flavor. The waffle was barely warm and had no crispness to it.

First time eating here, and I agree 100%, with previous reviews. The food was cooked fast, and served piping hot. Waitress was friendly and checked on me several times. Next time I’m in Birmingham, I’ll bring the family.
