Even after 2 weeks, I received no response when trying inform the restaurant of my concerns regarding food poisoning.

My 3 year old daughter and I had a lunch date to Cascade Roadhouse on Friday the 6th. She ordered the Childrens chicken tenders and fries. About 1-2 hours after, she threw up quite a bit. It was after she had a snack, so I thought she had overeaten since it was a one-off vomiting incident. She was completely fine after thankfully.

However, 2 days later, we fed our medically complex and disabled 5 year old daughter the leftover chicken tenders, which was a completely reasonable timeframe to eat them. Again, she vomiting 1-2 hours after eating them. It again was a one-off incident showing it wasn’t illness related like norovirus, etc. No one else was sick either. Our disabled daughter also has very serious protocols around vomiting due to her implanted medical shunt— vomiting is the #1 signal that she needs emergent surgery to repair it.

I wanted to bring this to your attention because I never would have guessed that a frozen food would have caused this vomiting in both of my daughters in the same way, and it was a very concerning situation for our family. I thankfully was not sick from eating my food, which was a burger cooked well done as I’m late into my third trimester of pregnancy.

Overall, it was a very concerning situation that happened almost identically to both of our daughters— but with quite serious implications for our disabled daughter, which is not ideal after paying for a meal that sickened both of our daughters.

Flew in to Grand Rapids after a work trip and needed a place for my wife and I to grab dinner before driving north. Showed up at dinner time on a Saturday night and the place was hopping! Waited about 15 minutes for a table and service was a little slow due to the dinner rush but we had the best waitress imaginable. Taylor was awesome! She was running crazy but was always around if we needed her, had personality to spare, and had “NO BS” answers about food recommendations which we appreciated. “Spinach artichoke dip is solid, order the prime rib medium rare instead of medium, the sirloin is my preference over the chicken parm, and get the asparagas over the broccoli.” She was spot on! All the food was wonderful and reasonably priced. We did think the peanut butter pie slice was on the small side, but it was tasty and rich and I’m fluffy enough so no complaints. I would love to come back to the Roadhouse during the summer months when the outdoor bar and courtyard doesn’t have to be enclosed and heated. The vibe is rustic/relaxed. Bottom line…Great stop. We really enjoyed our relaxed dinner. Taylor was excpetional and we’d come back just to sit in her section again.

The atmosphere here is hodgepodge meets rustic. It feels like multiple ideas were slammed together. In the end though it works. Just an FYI the entrance is in the back.

I ended up ordering the Roadhouse Burger ($15). This is a ½lb black angus burger with chopped bacon, sautéed bourbon onions, haystack onions, garlic herb cheese spread and BBQ sauce on a pretzel bun. The Burger was okay. I really liked all the toppings. My 2 issues were the burger wasn’t very juicy, plus meat quality was also only okay. The other was the bun was a little dry, maybe stale. I’ve had so many better burgers, it wasn’t technically bad, just very ehhh. I also upgraded to asparagus ($2.5) as my side. They were cooked properly and tasted very good. A sauce or something would take them to another level. The person I was with ordered the
Cajun Bleu Cheese Burger ($15). This is a Cajun seasoned ½lb black angus burger served with bacon, mushrooms, and crumbled bleu cheese served on a Kaiser roll. This person actually really enjoyed her Burger. Hers was cooked medium rare while mine was medium, plus different buns, so maybe that made a difference.

They were short staffed with only one waitress covering. So she was a little frazzled. However she did a good job and was still friendly in the process.

The other issue with this business I had was their website and actual are not the same. The websites menu states on Saturday it’s brunch till 3pm them dinner menu at 3pm. We cane at 3pm, because I wanted the pot roast. Nope we are told it’s Lunch menu only. If I had known that I probably wouldn’t have come here

Overall I’ll give a 3 star review. It’s not a bad place, just not anywhere near my favorite. Would I return? Probably not. If someone else really wanted to go here, then yes otherwise I don’t see myself returning.

I came here with a friend who wanted to try this restaurant out. Upon looking at the menu and reviews it seemed like it would be a solid option. We were quickly seated and greeted by our friendly waitress. We ordered and the wait for our food was what I would call average for this type of restaurant. However, once our food came, it’s like our waitress disappeared. I wanted some additional toppings for my burger and had to wait probably 10 minutes for her to come back. While she did come back relatively quickly with the requested toppings, she was extremely slow at refilling our drinks, getting our dessert order, and cashing us out. The food itself was decent overall. The chicken tenders we got as an appetizer were mediocre, but I did enjoy my western burger and onion rings. My friend had the chicken cordon bleu and really enjoyed it. Overall, there are some decent options here at Cascade Roadhouse and there is a nice ambiance, but the service could use some help. My friend mentioned that he thought they were understaffed, but it was obvious that our waitress just wanted to chat with her coworkers instead of prioritizing timely service. I may try this restaurant again, but I probably won’t go out of my way for it.

We were pleased with our first meal here. Both of us are from out of town and my guest requested a steak. Once I saw the whitefish dip on the menu I knew I had to try it, as did my out-of-state guest. It was solid – not fresh out of Lake Superior served in the UP good, but solid. As a wings connoisseur, I also had to give the wings a whirl. They were solid, but nothing special and a little heavy of the buffalo sauce. We each enjoyed a ribeye for our main course and they came out cooked properly and were quite tasty. Definitely would go back again.

Cascade Roadhouse is one of my favorite places to eat. I love sitting in the outside heated area with the plastic walls up in the winter—it’s such a great atmosphere watching the snow fall while staying warm and comfortable. It’s just as great in the summer when the walls are down and everything is open and airy.

I’ve taken family and business guests here year-round, and it’s always a win. The food, atmosphere, and overall experience never disappoint. Highly recommend!

Cascade Roadhouse is a great place for casual dining. Just the right amount of selections on the menu so you won’t get bogged down trying to figure out what you want. Apps, salads, burgers and sandwiches on the lunch menu and All that plus hearty entrees for the dinner menu.
Checked in today with 10 people in our group and were seated nearly immediately in the outside dining area which actually is very cool (this time of year it was heated very well!) The building is a rustic lodge like log construction for the country feel. The staff was amazing as they always are and our orders were taken right away with food coming out accurately and relatively quick for a group our size. Cascade Roadhouse is also a great place for happy hour as well as other group gatherings. This place will always be on my rotation for food and drink.
