Once seated, Maca took excellent care of us and made the experience even more enjoyable with thoughtful, friendly service.
The food was delicious across the board. The mushroom pizza was a standout and quickly became a favorite, and the macadamia nut–crusted fish was perfectly cooked and flavorful. For dessert, we tried both the strawberry cream pie and the banana cream pie. They were rich, indulgent, and perfectly balanced without being overly sweet.
A beautiful setting, great service, and consistently excellent food. We’ll definitely be back.
Located on the first floor of the Outrigger Reef, this spot has a fantastic atmosphere.
The View: The restaurant offers an ocean view that is hard to beat—perfect for a sunset dinner.
Atmosphere: It has a really nice vibe, likely due to the open-air setting and live music.
The Food:
We ordered items to share, which is the best way to do it here.
Pizza: The pizza is excellent (hand-tossed and cooked perfectly).
Tacos: We also enjoyed their tacos (likely the fish or bulgogi pork ones). Both were great for shareable dining.
Service:
Staff: Our server was friendly and attentive, making the experience even better.
Reservations: Reservation is required (or highly recommended) as it gets very busy.
Logistics (Parking):
Valet Only: Be aware that the hotel is valet only.
Validation: They do validate your parking ticket at the restaurant, so bring it with you.
Verdict:
A top-tier spot in Waikiki. Great food, stunning views, and worth the valet fee.
The Monkeypod Mai Tai is bomb!!! The Lilikoi foam on top is so delicious and combined it’s an excellent cocktail. I know why it’s their signature.
The food was delicious. Came out fresh and hot and tasted amazing.
The service was great, there is a ton of staff working and walking around so if you need anything, there is always someone to answer a question or get you what you need.
The space is bright, vibrant, airy, and clean. The bathrooms are outside the restaurant next to the hotel elevators just outside the restaurant.
The food came out cold. Not just room temp, but actually cold and chewy/rubbery like it had been sitting out for a while.
The atmosphere is great. Very nice view of the ocean. It’s pretty clean (clean table/bar, but kind of smelled like old cocktails).
This place is not cheap, but you get WAY MORE for your money here than you do anywhere else in the area.
We tried the pizza and it’s amazing, sea bass special that day was the best, bolgogi pork tacos were phenomenal, you really can’t go wrong.
We loved it and will be back next time we are in the area!
The kitchen was very quick bringing the food out, service otherwise was average.
The view from our table was wonderful.
The portions were on the small size, the only thing I’d order again would be the parm fries.
The live music was very nice.
I’m so glad I stumbled upon Monkey Pod! This cute restaurant has an AMAZING view, and the service is top-notch. The staff are friendly, attentive, and the manager is a rockstar!
Try their Passionfruit Foam – it’s a taste sensation! And, OMG, their Mahi-Mahi Burger is delish! Fresh, flavorful, and cooked to perfection… except for the soggy fries (just sayin’).
We also tried the Jerk Chicken, which, unfortunately, needed a bit more cooking time. But the manager was super cool about it and gifted us a comp card to come back and try more dishes.
We took them up on that offer and went back for potstickers, apps, and drinks – everything was yummy! Service was consistently great, and the atmosphere is just lovely.
If I were you, I’d go for drinks, apps, and the Mahi-Mahi sandwich or burger – that’s where they shine! Worth a visit!
P.S. As for me, I prefer my Mai tai’s on the sweet, so Mai Tai cocktails at the Dukes or Mai Tai bars are still my fave!
