Punjabi Deli has quickly become my go-to lunch spot. The food tastes just like a comforting home-cooked meal, simple, flavorful, and incredibly satisfying. On top of that, it’s amazingly affordable. Couldn’t recommend it more.

We had the samosa chaat, aloo tikki chaat, and bread pakora — all of it was very authentic and delicious. But more than the food, it was the service that made the experience truly special. The person who runs the place greeted us so sweetly and even found a small spot for us to sit and enjoy our food. His hospitality was genuinely heartwarming.

A wonderful little gem — highly recommend!

We visited this place on Monday evening. We ordered small veg bowl with rice and dal, potato brinjal sabzi. Rice was well cooked and fluffy. Dal was mild yet flavourful. Brinjal Potato sabzi was perfectly seasoned. Everything was very tasty. There was a complimentary pickle and pickle tasted fresh and very tasty.
Paaji was very kind to us and the place had good vibes. The food was similar to home cooked food and prices were really affordable despite of being in NYC. I definitely recommend this place to everyone visiting NYC,I am sure the food wouldn’t disappoint anyone.

Punjabi Deli is a vegetarian eatery. The ready to eat foods are on display. There’s variety to choose from. The pricing is reasonable. One can eat in – standing or sitting (only 2 stools in a little corner).

There is also a section selling kitchen seasonings and many (cheap and little portioned) snacks ( I ❤️ this!!)

It doesn’t look appealing on the outside, but it’s worth the try. They have a lot of customers too!!

For the price, the food is delicious, homey, Punjabi fare. No frills. Plus, the man behind the counter was very friendly and very kind. My food was packaged very well and I was sent away with warm, heartfelt blessings. There is counter space to eat at in the store, if you want to as well. This is a gem tucked away in East Village.

Very interesting place. I was skeptical when i first heard about this Indian deli and turned out to be a very nice culinary experience. I didn’t know what to order, i just picked the large bowl of rice and two vegetables. I literally point what i wanted it. It was all delicious. I fully recommend the spinach dish, not very good looking but super tasty. Also the prices are great. And if you are worried about getting sick, don’t be.

The food is great and the service is amazing, I always leave with a smile on my face. The portions are very generous and reasonably priced — make sure you bring cash though, they DO NOT take card or Apple Pay!! I highly recommend stopping by if you’re in the area and looking for an affordable vegetarian/vegan lunch to go.

Hands down the best Indian food in NYC! Delicious, healthy, affordable and we the friendliest personnel out there. My absolute go-to spot for takeout. 100% recommended!

Food was really good but THEY CANNOT MAKE STUFF SPICY !! I asked for the spiciest stuff they had and he said he had some really spicy hot sauce for me. With a straight face he gave me a small container of Tabasco or some other vinegar based mild hot sauce.

He also gave me two tiny green Birds Eye peppers which are spicy, yes, but I asked for extra extra spice so I was expecting way more.

Several years ago, this place gave me a case of food poisoning that I will never forget. I think I ordered a saag dish. Strange and uncomfortable vibe from the employees, but it was late at night. It seems fine to go in to experience the place since most reviewers do not appear to have been victims of food poisoning.
