We wanted some local Panamanian Food and this place was recommended by our tour guide. I tried the chicken and rice and it was so good! And so was the chicken sandwich on house made bread. The cilantro mayo was the key to the sandwich but also the well seasoned chicken. It was so good that we went to another one of their locations a couple days later!

We had a fabulous experience at El Traipiche! The food was great but our server was outstanding which made the food even better. He took the time to explain the traditional Panamanian dishes to us and what was in what we ordered. He was gracious with us as we are not fluent in Spanish and he accommodated by explaining in English. It appeared they have a dinner show as well which is why reservations are recommended. Would love to see that next time! Go here for traditional Panamanian dishes!

Traditional Panamanian cuisine. The atmosphere was very cool. Our server, Sixta was excellent. She was very attentive and sweet. Apparently they have a live authentic show in the evening. We had lunch, so we didn’t get to enjoy the show. Had the pork dish with papa Fritas and a Beet, potato salad.

We had an appetizer sample platter that was described as “small”, which it was not! When the menu said it was for four people we thought it would be a couple pieces per person and there for ok for two people to share. Nope. This thing was huge! We did our best but couldn’t kill it off. Everything was good but the yuca fritters with meat filling were the standout. And the sauce was super tasty – they should jar and sell it. Such a great experience that we’re going back on Friday.
Update: We went back two more times! For lunch we had a delicious ropa vieja sandwich. We went to the dinner show, which was spectacular! Highly recommend.

During my weekend in Panamá I can to El Trapiche everyday. One of the main factors is it that it’s a 5 minute walk from where I stayed but the food, people, price and drinks is what made this a daily staple for me. The food was so simple yet freshly made. I had breakfast and drinks on Friday, came back for drinks on Saturday and did an early dinner and pre-gamed for Super Bowl Sunday. The space is open and they seating that can accommodate all party sizes. Saturday, they sat multiple tables of 10+ guests. The drinks are two for one and so delicious; the staffers were very warm and welcoming. I would definitely recommend El Trapiche 1000% (if 1000% was a real number).

Holy crap my first time eating here I wanted to try something different I made the best choice El Trapiche is absolute my new favorite restaurant. The food, service, atmosphere, staff were all fantastic. I hate I didn’t get my servers name he was absolutely the best. I wasn’t sure of what I wanted so I just chose something it was so dang good the portion size was perfect made you feel full but not stuff like in United States which I hate. I ordered a margarita even received a complimentary drink everything was superb. I can’t wait to come back in Feb and bring my coworkers with me.

El Trapiche
Great service other than they added 18% tip for themselves when we said 10%
Reasonably priced with lots of locals dining in so that’s a good sign!
We got the traditional Panamain food platter to try out all the flavours. 7.8/10
Got the chicken tenders as well cause the photo looked really really appetizing, don’t judge me hahaha. They did look just like the photos and were crunch and delicious! 8.1/10
Overall would return again, the server adding extra ok the tip for themselves left a slightly bad taste in my mouth but the restaurant as a whole is a good deal.

I had a delicious Sancocho and a few drinks here. I planned on trying more of the menu but got so full from the soup. Service was great. I really liked the decor of the place as well. I think it’s a chain but it felt like a really nice local restaurant.
