Pretty packed on Sunday before Labor Day. Seated within a few minutes. Menu is very small and simple. Service is friendly. Crowd seems casual with families and couples. We tried the crispy chicken sandwich. It was a thick cut of chicken fried to perfection. Seasoning on it was a little lacking for some reason. Fries were shoestring style and mildly seasoned. Overall a good place. Kind of steep pricing but I see everything in Bend is very expensive.

First time here. We showed up without reservations (they are recommended). We sat at the bar and they served us a bag of popcorn after being seated. That was a little different to me. Quite a bit of seating but a tad cramped at the bar. Might be the normal for downtown Bend. Had the duck appetizer and it was great! Also had a bloody mary that was decent and a Bohemian which was incredible. Bartender was cool. Good vibe there, would recommend and would go back.

Short ribs… Oh yes …
But first let’s talk about the Bang Bang shrimp… Crunchy and full of the kind of flavor you can imagine yourself eating again and again and again…
Oh yeah… Dungeness Crab Toast… Sweet lovin Jesus… A person might want to consider this … Perfectly toasted and heaping with a most delectable crab (semi spicy and soooooo good)
Finally… The short ribs… So tender you don’t need to try to chew as it falls off the bone and melts in your mouth…
Hat’s off to the chef who blends elegance and simplicity
A standing ovation to the staff who exuded class and comfort
You feel special
Taken care of
Fed well…

We came in on a night that Martin, Courtney, and Felicia were working. We come to Bend often but for some reason have never tried Drake before. We ordered the Scallops, Butter Salad, Burger, and Butterscotch Pudding.

My wife and I came here for our anniversary dinner. The service is great and super friendly. It’s a very nice place. Not a whole lot of sitting room but they make the best of it without you feeling to crowded. I had the fish and chips and my wife had the vegan gnocchi and we split a cedar salad. The salad was great! If the croutons they used weren’t house made, I would be shocked. So yummy. Highly recommend. Definitely want to make reservations if you can, but they do very well with walk-ins.

We recently dined atthe Drake… and although the food was pretty good (not great) the service was lacking. Our waiter was completely uninterested in us, didn’t engage , kept looking out the window when we were addressing him and removed wanted food items from our table without asking first. He made us feel like a burden to him and also seemed bothered we were using our gift certificate to cover a portion of our meal. We had tried to come here one other time last year and were told that they were “squeezing us in” and “ could we “be done by” a certain time. We opted not to go then because we didn’t want to feel rushed. One other odd thing was that they not only confirmed our reservation via text (which was fine) they texted us again later to say “ you need to be here in 1 hour”. I’ve NEVER seen a restaurant do that before. Both of these events set a bad vibe prior to arrival.. but then the poor service and lack of feeling welcomed really set it in stone. Sad this happened and on a special holiday. I used to love the Drake years ago but now they are just an overpriced and unwelcoming place. Doubt we’ll be back.

I travel for work and have eaten dinner in 49 states. This is top 5 place I have eaten at. The food and service was beyond what I expected. I ended up getting the king salmon special and it was cooked perfect, a very generous portion size, and the sides were homemade.
The seasoning was on point, the drinks were perfectly made, and Macey impressed with personality and engagement. I 100% highly recommend this establishment- you will NOT be disappointed.

Amazing food!! We had breakfast: drake Benedict, croquet madam and the donuts. All very delicious and large portions. We sat at the bar looking into the kitchen and it was entertaining watching them cook! Just know if you need something you’ll probably have to wave down the waitress. Had to do that each time we needed coffee, water, silverware etc. They did take the donuts off our bill since it took a while, but they were busy. We would go back!

Husband recently reserved us a quaint table near the rear of this historic restaurant. The vibes were just right; full bar, open kitchen to watch the chefs cook up our meal right in front of us, aromatic & delicious scents wafting from the kitchen. All good signs.
The real nail in the five-star review coffin for The Drake was the moment the Fried Chicken platter hit our table, which my husband ordered. It inspired the following remixed bars from the hit song, “Not Like Us,” by Kendrick Lamar… Please enjoy:

We had a great dinner here, I thought My Negroni cocktail was superb and I liked the range of what they have on their menu. I had the Manzanita melt, which is their homemade veggie burger, and oh my gosh it was outstanding. We will definitely be returning nice job, Drake!!
