It’s been awhile since I visited this restaurant so when my Bible study pal asked me to join her for lunch I was excited. Lauren was our waitress and she was amazing and patient with us.

I had the gumbo for the first time and the sweet potato bread pudding. They were both delicious. The only drawbacks was the volume of the music was quite loud, which took some getting used to, and my gumbo was good but I felt the portion was quite small for the value. It did not come with any sides (no crackers, no cornbread or biscuits) Other than that, it was cool.

Wonderful atmosphere. Comfortable, stylish, and a warm, welcoming service. Hawani was very attentive and made us feel right at home. The food was delicious and I highly recommend the jerk lamb chops. First time there but this will end up being one of my regular spots.

Everythang was awesome!!!
We had the Gumbo cup which was enough and filling by itself. It was soooo yummy and filled with everything you want and desire in a Gumbo especially if your not in NOLA!!
SERVICE: IMPECCABLE!
Thanks Hawani!!! Her amazing personality was soooo bright and welcoming.
I will be back, sure enough.
SOUNDS: HITLIST was 100/100! PeriodT!

Overall experience was OK. We had reservations for Valentine’s Day. When we got there, they were very confused about seating. We were never greeted. We sat for almost 30
Mins before I finally flagged someone to our table and asked if we could order our drinks and food.

It was very messy everywhere. No one bussing tables. We sat with a pile of plates and cups next to our table which was rude.

It was a lot of standing around and then them rushing food to people. One girl dropped her work device and cut herself and did not go bandage her finger.

We watched as other couples came in and they’d walk them to a table BEFORE it was finished being cleaned and setup.

The food literally saved the day because the service was the worst I’ve ever experienced.

We ordered the fish and chicken waffle. The flavors were good, but please be cautious about fish bones — they weren’t removed. The service was quite slow, and table management needs improvement. We waited about 30 minutes to be seated, and the staff couldn’t tell us how long the wait would be, even though several tables were available (some clean and some not yet cleared). It also took around 10–15 minutes for someone to take our order and another 20 minutes for the food to arrive. So, be aware if you’re planning to have a quick lunch here — it might take much longer than expected.

Hawani at Milk and Honey on Main Street in Fairfax gave exceptional service! She made sure my shrimp and grits were absolutely on point, perfectly seasoned and served with care. Her warm attitude and attention to detail made the whole experience amazing. The ambiance was loud, but cozy and you could hear yourself speak. I’ll definitely be coming back!

Overall a decent experience. Is was a bit hard to get our waiter’s attention when we needed him, but he was nice enough. The food was quite nice with the only problems we saw were that both the pancakes and sausage were a bit overcooked and the grits were a bit heavy. The location also felt crowded. Still, nice place that we may visit again.

They’re popular! This location just added many new tables and are in the process of working on their system of clearing tables. Hopefully they can be quick to expand, but for now, plan to wait a while for one of the many tables to be bussed/cleared. Then plan to look at your warm food for a while after asking 3x for utensils before actually enjoying the INCREDIBLE food. Their chef certainly knows Southern cuisine – do you won’t be disappointed. I’d love to say it’s worth the wait, but if you’re impatient and just want to devour the amazing presented dishes, then you might be because you have to wait. Patience is a virtue, I suppose! Meanwhile, SERVERS, HOSTESS, MANAGER are all pleasant, quick, knowledgeable and so friendly. You sort of expect southern hospitality here!

UPDATE: We made it back a month later! Smooth service, continued excellent service, friendly and family feel. We all tried different menu items. You won’t be disappointed. Gumbo, Shrimp & Grits, Bischoff Waffles, Pancakes … pictured is the Wharf Scramble with multigrain toast and Bloody Mary. Divine!!
