Nice Guy Ricky’s American Grill (of Lumberton) was established in January 2023, as an alternative to options not available at its sister location, Tia Juanita’s Fish Camp. We offer a variety of southern style dishes like country fried steak, chicken fried chicken, and pork tenderloin baskets. We have a variety of seafood dishes like Salmon, Redfish, Tilapia, fried baskets, and more! We offer some unique dishes like our Skillets (with your choice of protein with cheese, jalapenos, and bacon), Foot-long hot dogs, Gumbo, sandwiches, and more. We also have some of the BEST smash burgers in town… AND we were voted by Southeast Texas Reader’s Choice Best of the Best NEW RESTAURANT for 2023! Come on in and check us out!

I had reviewed this place before when it was Catfish Cabin and it was a no for me but now as RNG American Grill. I’m giving it all the love. So as not to be confusing I, for the very first time ever since I’ve been doing this deleted a review so it wouldn’t get confused with this one. That shouldn’t make me less credible since catfish cabin does not exist any longer. We got there mid afternoon and was seated immediately. Susie was to be our server. We read over the menu for awhile and I finally chose the Grilled Shrimp and Fish. Subbing my tilapia for catfish and paying the extra $1 for blackened.. it came with the chicken rice and grilled veggies. He ordered the fried fish and Shrimp. We then went to the enormous salad bar that was filled with fresh salad bar menus that are so delicious. Nothing was missing for me and that macaroni salad was so crazy good to me. Before we could get halfway thru our salad our food had already arrived. So next time I will do as another diner suggested and ask them to hold my order for a bit.. because the salad is worth giving it your full attention. They had not put the grilled shrimp on with my fish and Susie took all blame for the little slip up and it was quickly taken care of and yes. They were worth that extra wait. I enjoyed this plate so much I’m not sure how I will be able to order something different next time. My dining guest also enjoyed his fried shrimp and fish and we both have another meal for today from our leftovers..

Bre was an awesome waitress-she was very knowledgeable about the menu and made sure we had everything we needed! I ordered the shrimp and they were huge! And The burger was 5 stars per my captain!

Not sure what to expect from outside. Pub? Restaurant? Well, both. TV’s on in every corner, no audio, music playing on the PA system. Noisy, but good. Lots of visual stimulation. Fun. Good choices on the menu. Grilled, fried, boiled. Nothing crazy, everything tasty, well prepared & nicely presented. I have a thing about dime store silverware. Hmmm. . . Reasonable to “low” prices -or- an excellent VALUE on the menu. Plenty of well prepared food for the money. Very impressive! Family friendly. Oh, btw, go ahead- throw your peanut shells on the floor. Yikes !!

We had a group of 19 today and NGR’s was so accommodating. They seated us in the party room and set it up for us. The menu is so varied and the food was excellent! Server Allie was outstanding. She was courteous and patient w us (we’re all over 70 but a rambunctious group lol). Also thanks to managers Kelsie and Lacy for working w us! Highly recommend this restaurant and their food!

We’ve passed by this place a few times and finally swung in and we were glad we did. Food, service, and the atmosphere were great. Loved the decor. The fried pork chops were great and my guest thoroughly enjoyed the redfish. We’ll definitely fancy another visit soon.

We stopped in while we were visiting my grandpa. This place is laid back and fun. We loved the food! The kids were very pleased with the chicken tenders! We even made room for some carrot cake. However, the best part of our experience was the service we received from Annie. Very grateful to have stopped in for such a restful time!

My husband and I came for a date night. It was our 1st time here. The food came out fresh and hot in less that 10 min after ordering. Our server Ann was very attentive and sweet. The atmosphere was great. We will definitely be back!

I ordered the unlimited trips to salad bar. It only took one since they provide you with extra large plate so you don’t have to stack your pasta salads on top of other things. The salad bar was very clean and fresh. A bit confusing because the only cheese was with the baked potato fixings. Another container of cheese should be added with the salad toppings. Easy fix. Other than that, everything was on point and tasted great. My husband ordered the chicken fried steak with gravy on the meat and a side order of extra gravy for his fries. They followed the instructions to the T, you would be surprised at how many places can’t follow simple instructions. He said it was awesome and I believe him because in a split second his plate was clean and he had started eyeballing my salad. We will be going back to try the restaurant’s claim to fame fried catfish.

We stopped here on our way back into town and I was pleasantly surprised! I wasn’t expecting to really blow me away but I was wrong. We were sat down immediately once walking in, they didnt have any booths in the area that we were sitting, which is okay but the chairs were pretty uncomfortable (this could just be because I was 7 months pregnant, husband didnt really seem to care about the chairs, no complaints from him.) Our waitress was super kind and very helpful. It wasn’t very busy when we first arrived but slowly picked up, she still managed to keep coming back to our table for timely refills and check ins.
I ordered a mocktail and it was delicious! I forget the name but it had “mule” in the title. It also included pineapple and cucumber. Me and my husband both ordered the all American smash burger, it was one of the best burgers I had from a restaurant!
