We got a little turned around on our first night in West Bend, WI, and somehow ended up right in front of Cabana Mexican Cantina — clearly, it was a sign!
From the moment we walked up, the place gave off good vibes only — the patio looked like a summer party, and the inside felt just the same. Even though the restaurant wasn’t packed, the atmosphere was upbeat, and the staff couldn’t have been friendlier. Everyone seemed to be having a great time.
We had already eaten dinner, but couldn’t resist stopping in for a margarita. They immediately brought out chips and salsa (which were delicious!) while we deliberated all the margarita options. We ended up choosing grande frozen prickly pear margaritas — and wow, they were so good! Sweet, refreshing, and adorably decorated with Halloween themed umbrellas.
A huge shoutout to Karen, who truly made the experience special. She went above and beyond to make us feel welcome — sharing stories, giving recommendations, and chatting with us like we were old friends.
If you’re looking for a fun place, authentic Mexican food, amazing drinks, and that “everyone’s family here” kind of hospitality, Cabana Mexican Cantina in West Bend is an absolute must-visit!

I have been coming for years. Best Mexican in the area. Very good margaritas too. Many competitors, use so much mix, but Cabana is always great tasting and still strong. Great staff every time.

What a fun atmosphere! The chips and salsa were fantastic, and getting two salsa varieties with the chips was a real nice treat. The street corn was huge! What a great appetizer! And the shredded beef in the enchiladas was so well marinated. Plus they were so friendly. I can’t wait to go back!!!

First time visitors, & will definitely be back again. Our 2 kids scarfed down almost every bite of their burger & taco meals. I really enjoyed the chips & salsa, & appreciated the refills on them. My chicken barachas were pretty good too. I think we had a new server, so we did wait a bit for silverware after our food had arrived, & for my margarita (got it mid-meal instead of before). It was pretty busy, & I’m sure she wa s overwhelmed by the dinner crowd which is understandable. The fried ice cream was incredibly good. We will definitely be back to try some more dishes.

We went for my daughter’s birthday and it was the BEST experience! The wait staff did an amazing job singing and made her birthday experience one to remember! Everyone was kind and made sure we had full drinks and full stomachs! I definitely recommend coming here for festive fun and great food!!!!

This is a great Mexican spot in an area I would not expect to have good Mexican food. The food was pretty decent and the waitress, Dayana, was gorgeous and super nice and helpful. We were a big party so I am glad they were very kind and accommodating.

I went in today with a friend to enjoy a nice lunch. I ordered the Chili Relleno, Pastor, and my friend ordered pork tostadas.
The pork was small, cut up pieces of meat that tasted nothing like pork and more like old meat that’s been sitting around for days. Neither one of us ate more than two or three bites of meat.
Our waitress DIDNT come back to check on us for close to an hour and when she did, she asked if we wanted it wrapped up. We both told her that the pork didn’t taste right and assumed that it would be shredded and not these chunks Of stuff. Also, she ( my friend) got the pastor, and I got only pork. We tried to explain to her that our orders were reversed as far as how we wanted our pork, and she insisted that “pork means pastor.” Then she grabbed both our plates and disappeared into the kitchen without saying anything.
She proceeded to serve and take orders from other tables and didn’t make eye contact with us, Even though we tried. Another 20 minutes went by and we finally had to flag her down to get our bill.
She took $4 Off of $44 bill and made it sound like she was doing doing us a favor. Of course, we didn’t say anything else, paid our bill and she still got a $7 tip.
Now, normally I wouldn’t have been so generous, but, my friend was, so I played along. But as we were walking out, my friend looked at me and said, I am never coming here again, and I agreed! We go out to eat often and always in West Bend or the West Bend area.
If I could’ve rated this review with a negative number I would’ve. But, NEVER AGAIN!!!
