You wont find food this good for many miles! Burnt ends are addicting and brisket is melt in your mouth. Get the egg rolls while your at it, nothing but flavor!

Ill start with the positive….Smoked Chicken and mac-n-cheese were extreamly good. Unfortunatly now for the bad. I went here on Tim Shropshires video recommendation and reaction to the Brisket and Smoked wings. Well either he doesnt have the heart to tell people shit just dont hit or what cause my brisket was dry tough and fought me back when I bit it. Smoked wings were just too rubbery for being fried after. Was the second brisket I had that day and looked and tasted more like spider stew meat than brisket. Sorry but from a man with over 300+ brisket tastings Ive learned a bit. Good overall but what I came for was a miss…last photo as a comparison to earlier days brisket

I saw this restaurant on a reel and I knew I had to go! It was a great day date location! Sonya took great care of us and explained everything to us in detail and we appreciated it being first-timers!! Of course, we grabbed the egg rolls and I even grabbed egg rolls to take to our son! They were amazing! The wings were great and smoky! The brisket and barbecue were delicious and the sides tied it all together!! Everything from the food to the service was amazing!! I highly recommend the scenic drive to Apple City BBQ! You will not leave disappointed or hunger! The servings are were huge!! 10/10

I ate her recently, with two others. I got the loaded fries and they were really good. The waitress helped us in a timely fashion. I like the atmosphere and interior decorations, with tin as wall panels and a garage door as a divider. Pretty cool ideas. I’ll be back!

I went to the restaurant based on an Instagram review. We drove approximately 1 hour. The food was just okay. They were very short on staff and service was very slow.(I don’t hold that against them for a review of the food) They never said that to us, I overheard one of the servers saying it to someone else. We were not even greeted at the door. I was going to just leave, but my friend wanted to give them more time. At a minimum, you should greet people at the door and say “we we are a little short…..” I will say they were saying it to others, just did not say it to us. The server was helpful in reviewing the menu once we sat down. Overall, I would eat there ifI am in the area, but I would not make a special trip.

Our 1st ever visit. Quaint little place with a 50’s vibe. For starters we tried the brisket pimento cheese egg rolls. They are really good. We went with combination of 3 meat tray with 2 sides. Brisket, chicken and pulled pork. Sides, baked beans and jalapeño cheddar grits. Brisket was ok, lacked a little flavor. The pulled smoked chicken was very good. Pulled pork was average.

Drove 2 hours round trip to have dinner. I have been here multiple times in the past and it was great. I was so excited just to be let down.It looked promising but every single meat on my plated tasted like dirty smoke. As any other experienced pit master would know but to the average person it tastes like liquid smoke and chemicals. I have never refused to pay at a restaurant but I morally struggled to pay for our meal this time. The Cheerwine however was good.

TIP: The cook needs to learn how to control the fire and temps in his smoker. If you cant control your fire properly It can cause alot of dirty heavy smoke causing your meat to taste overly smoked and like chemicals.

Every once in a while we find a local TREASURE!! Our waitress, Sonia, took the time to explain each entree and the food was AMAZING!! The brisket pimento cheese egg rolls were unbelievably delicious, as well as the brisket, bbq and ribs. I don’t usually like sweet potato casserole due to too much sugar, but theirs was on point!! You gotta try this place!

I heard all the rave reviews about this place and decided to take my parents for lunch as a treat.

Here’s what was good:
The tea was great.
Hush puppies were amazing!
Baked beans were good.
Slaw was decent but bland. Needed a shot of vinegar or carrot or something.

Here’s the rest:
The pulled pork tasted like it was smoked with a combination of hickory and plastic. I eat a lot of barbecue and I’m very particular about the smoke. This tasted almost chemical.
My mom said the same thing about the pulled pork.
My stepdad didn’t like the brisket either.
The servers all seemed to be on edge or something, and seemed preoccupied with what was going on in the back of house, and not any of the tables.

I might give this place another shot, but based on my first experience, it was not all it is hyped up to be… especially, when the price is equal or higher than any other barbecue place within driving distance

EDIT:
I took one star away because people have been telling them for at least a month about a bad taste and the owner chooses to ignore that feedback and tout their wood and smoking process, rather than trying to figure out what people are tasting that they don’t like.

Listen. Hands down the best BBQ that I’ve had since I’ve been in NC. Tender, juicy brisket, REAL St Louis style ribs, all the sides were delicious! This food is good. Coming to the south from the north is a culture shock. Especially the food and this place made me feel right at home with the robust smoky flavors! Its in a little town which can be intimidating when you’re not familiar with the area. The people are SO friendly and as a POC, I felt welcomed and very comfortable. So, if you go and you don’t see any of your “cousins” lol it’s safe and the people, customers and staff alike were very nice and kind. Do yourself a favor and go to this place and enjoy some really slamming food! I’ve had both done in and take out. If you dine in, be prepared to wait, but it’s worth it. Take out portions are amazing. Either way, you’ll be happy!
