So delicious and fresh! This is my second time here, about a year apart.

My favorites were the East Cape, Island Creek, and the House Long Bay — all had a mild brine and super fresh taste. I also really enjoyed the Provençal Butter Roasted Oysters; they complement the oysters perfectly. If you want oysters but prefer to mask the oyster flavor a bit, get the Napolean Roasted Oysters — they’re delicious, especially on the bread they come with (we ordered both).

The Flounder Meunière is amazing. I’m visiting again next year.

Nico is one of my favorite restaurants in the Charleston area. We live close by and love to stop in for a shrimp & scallop roll (with frites) or lobster roll! The oysters are divine and there’s something on the menu for everyone. My son loves their burger and French onion soup and I love all their seafood offerings!

Delicious food, excellent service and a nice selection of wine by the glass. I really enjoyed the grilled oysters for an appetizer and the lobster roll for an entree, especially the perfect fries with Gruyere dipping sauce. But the piece de resistance is the creme brulee, bruleed table side, and served with a few chocolate cookies. It’s not only deliciously decadent and rich, but a large portion that could easily be shared by more than two people.
Sitting at the outside bar was pleasant and service was attentive and friendly.

Worth every penny. I started with the Charred Octopus which amazing, then a half dozen of my customized order of oysters, they were great and tasted fresh. Then I had a cup of French onion soup it needs a pinch more of salt but it was good. For my main course I had the Duck Confit and a Old Fashion they were both spot on! I thoroughly enjoyed my meal, I literally tasted the value in my meal, the food was art and I loved it! This place is better than 95% of other places in a 12 mile radius.

We pulled in fresh off the road, and though it was rainy outside this spot turned the whole mood around.

Steven was amazing, and I very much appreciate him answering my many many questions.

Happy Hour Oysters, followed by the Octobus, (which I would 100% drive back from FL just for that), then the Flounder.

You can not leave without trying the gin martini with the chai…

Felt welcome from start to finish, thank you Nico for having us as guests! Can’t wait to come back!

Staff is super knowledgeable and fun to be around. Monday oyster deal got me to the door but I end up also ordering the whole fish with some sides. Nicely charred and juicy. I want to be back as much as I possibly can!

Our first time here. We tried a little of EVERYTHING. To put in perspective, we love Hall’s Chophouse, O-Ku, Burwell’s and loved the appetizers at Kersey House in the same restaurant group. We started with the caviar oyster. Delicious. Would get these again. Next we had the tuna tar tar. While it was ok, Hall’s and O-Ku blow it out of the water. The shrimp cocktail was your normal, nothing crazy shrimp cocktail. Exactly what you’d expect out of a shrimp cocktail. The octopus was good. We’d definitely get this again. We planned to compare to Burwell’s octopus, which is INCREDIBLE. The two are so different that it’s not fair to compare. I’d say they’re both delicious. The garnish/sauce with Nico’s offers a sweet pairing and I appreciated an unexpected twist. We LOVE escargot and were excited to see them on the menu. Kersey House has amazing escargot so we had high hopes. Unfortunately, they were a huge disappointment. Not only did they have zero flavor, they were missing the baguette on top that’s listed on the menu as part of the dish. That baguette is one of my favorite parts of Kersey House’s escargot. This dish was desperately lacking in flavor and all of the ingredients. Next, main courses. My husband had the filet. I had the sea scallops. Now, if you’ve been to Hall’s, my God you know the standard they set with their filets, both regular and bison filets. Let me start by saying that both the scallops and the filets were cooked to absolute perfection. However, not one ounce of seasoning or flavor could have possibly been added. Zero flavor. My scallops were served on top of white rice and peas. I let my husband try a bite and asked him what he tasted. His response, “white rice”. That’s awful. Such a disservice. You owe your customers more than to taste the flavor of white rice over what should be a decadent dish of scallops. Next, it was our anniversary. We chose your restaurant to spend celebrating. It was put in the notes on the reservation. At Hall’s, you are immediately met with a glass of champagne. Yes, I’ve done the research. It’s by no means an expensive glass of champagne. However, it is a thought that counts and goes far when making customers feel special, when choosing to celebrate their special days with you. The owner came around and not even an acknowledgement. Our server was new, yet extremely professional and attentive. He did an excellent job. All in all, if you’re looking for good oysters in the Lowcountry, yes, I’d recommend Nico. Beyond that, I believe they leave a lot to be desired as far as fine dining goes. I’d highly recommend seeking other options. This was a missed opportunity to guarantee return customers.

It was a good dining experience. I sat at the bar and was taken care of fairly quickly and well during my visit. The cheese puffs were absolutely outstanding and remarkable. The Bouillabaisse was good – good variety of proteins and solid broth. It just felt like it was missing a little something (honestly it was good!). Great vibes and super chill place.

NICO came highly recommended and was one of my must-try restaurants on our visit to Charleston. Despite arriving to a half empty restaurant at 7pm on a Friday that included open bar seating, we were told we couldn’t eat there due to reservations. We’re foodies and frequently dine at higher end establishments and have never been told bar seating is reservation only, nor were we not accommodated when the restaurant was half empty waiting for their reservations to arrive. We understand the concept of reservations, but a very common practice–a smart business decision (outside of open bar seating)–is to seat walk-ins and advise them of a limited time to dine, due to arriving reservations. Since NICO refused to accommodate us, we went to the much more lively, completely sold out The Ordinary. Despite us not having a reservation and a full waiting room, can you believe they managed to seat us at the raw bar within 10 minutes, where we had incredible food and drink. In the end, thank you NICO for your poor business practices. The Ordinary was incredible.
