Mushashi Japanese Steakhouse has become one of our favorite places to celebrate family birthdays. We usually come with a large group, and it always feels welcoming and comfortable. The hibachi style cooking is a highlight. The chefs prepare everything right in front of you on the flat top grill, and they bring a mix of skill, humor, and genuine care into the experience. The steak, seafood, vegetables, and fried rice always come out flavorful and perfectly cooked.
They also have a full bar, which makes the evening even better. The drink menu is broad enough for everyone to find something they enjoy, from classic cocktails to sake, and the bartenders keep everything consistent and well made.
The sushi and sashimi deserve their own mention. Everything we have tried has been incredibly fresh and beautifully prepared. The cuts are clean, the flavors are bright, and the presentation always looks like something crafted with intention. It is some of the best sushi in the area and a reason to stop in even when you are not doing hibachi.
One of the moments I look forward to most is the closing drum ceremony after the chef finishes cooking. It gives the meal a celebratory energy that sticks with you. When it is a birthday, they also sing a Japanese birthday song with traditional drum beats that always gets a smile from the whole table.
The staff here is consistently friendly, attentive, and patient, even when our group is on the larger side. They keep the experience running smoothly and make sure everyone feels taken care of.

Terrible food, over priced in my opinion and awful service! Went there last night for dinner with my wife and grandson. Served us cold shrimp and chicken hibachi dinners. The Shirmp and chicken were cold, tough and hard to chew. The vegetables which only consisted of zucchini was cold and under cooked. The rice tasted like it had been sitting on the plate for days…absolutely disgusting! The waitress never came back to check on us or refill our drinks. We had to hunt her down just to get our balance ticket. The manager was checking customers out at the counter when I went to pay. I told him and one of his staff members in detail who was present that the food and service was awful and unacceptable there. The manager did not say anything to me. I mean an apology at the least would have been a starter but he chose to remain silent and did not even offer to fix, compensate, or communicate with me about the situation and my complaints. Instead he just took my money. I left a tip because it’s the right thing to always do but he did not reciprocate in any way whatsoever… stay away from this place it is absolutely awful, they will serve you terrible food without any service and charge you for it without even saying I’m sorry….

No ambiance whats so ever if you get the regular table. Ordered a hibachi shrimp and hibachi chicken. Shrimp did not taste fresh and chicken was bland. Rice was also not good.
Sushi was below average. For the price that they are asking none of it is worth it.
The hibachi room seems to be the reason why people come here because other than that its dead.

Been eating here since they opened love it here. Recently had some hick ups here and there like asking for tobiko and getting salmon roe instead. Overall great place to eat

Food and the chef were excellent. The server, not so much.
As far the food goes though? Generally speaking I despise onion and don’t care for mushrooms… I cleaned my plate out. Photos taken are of my plate as the items were being prepared. I couldn’t hold back and wait.

We went to celebrate my son’s earning his white belt and had a great time! It was his first time ever seeing hibachi cooked in front of him and he was hesitant. But once the show started he enjoyed every minute of it. Not to mention the delicious food! We all got the filet mignon because it was a special occasion and my kiddo ate every bite off his plate! Definitely a great place to go to celebrate or just to enjoy a delicious meal!

The only complaints I have on the food were that the fried rice had no eggs or veggies mixed in and the “steak” (not filet mignon) was a tiny super thin piece of meat that was terrible! Everything else was good, I don’t like having to order jumbo shrimp to get normal size shrimp but that’s the way it seems to be now.

We have been to all 3 Musashi Restaurants, New Bern, Havelock, and Morehead City. The food, service, and atmosphere in all 3 have been outstanding. Today, we ordered lunch, and the size of the meal was full sized. I recommend all 3 restaurants.
