There is a lot to like about Superica: the location is central, the vibe is energetic, the staff is fantastic, and the endless chips and salsa are great. I’ve been numerous times over the years and it’s always a fun scene for a South End brunch or dinner.
The downside for me is the beverage program and the lack of authentic heat. The drinks often feel weak and are definitely overpriced, especially when going for brunch.
Additionally, they struggle to deliver actual spice. On my last visit, after multiple requests for their spiciest drink and sauce, I was given something completely mild.
That being said, the food is always good with big portions. On my last visit I had queso and shrimp tacos, which were both very tasty.
Overall it fits the bill for local ‘Mexican’ food, but if you’re used to the real deal in CA or TX, manage your expectations.

This place hits in all points. From service to atmosphere to food. You can’t go wrong. Everything was so authentic and tasty! The Margaritas are on point! Clean bathrooms. Overall great experience.

5/5 in all categories. Our waiter, Carter, was such a sweetheart, very attentive and helpful. We had a shellfish allergy and he, along with the manager and chef, ensured we were able to enjoy our meal with special adjustments. We came here for dinner and had a great experience. I ordered the Tacos de Camarón and two Tacos de Pescado. Both were amazing, but I especially loved the Tacos de Camarón. They had a nice kick and were packed with flavor. Our server Aaliyah was wonderful. She was so sweet and attentive. Everyone was incredibly kind when we walked in, which made us feel really welcome. Aaliyah even made us a cucumber-based drink that was absolutely delicious.The ambiance was super cute and I would definitely visit again. Also, the complimentary chips and salsa 10/10!

We had an excellent dinner there. The interior is bright enough to see what you need to see, but dim enough to feel intimate. They brought two salsas and two hot sauces to the table, both a red and green. The green salsa was cold, fresh, and bright. The red salsa was warm, smokey, and deep. Both of the hot sauces were very mild with the green having a slow burn and the red a very bright front of the mouth flavor. We had chicken fajitas and their hamburger, which was one of the best hamburgers I’ve had in Charlotte. The chicken fajita was well seasoned, juicy, and delicious. They also gave us a postcard to fill out (that they’ll mail) and a pack of matches. We will definitely be back here again.

HANDS DOWN best place to host a big dinner party. Went here for a bachelorette and we were all amazed at the service and how incredible the food is, our server John was top notch. Was so accommodating to multiple dietary restrictions. Cannot recommend enough!! Will be back… probably tomorrow haha

Great meal and experience!! It was our first time here and Matt C. was our amazing server. His suggestions were spot on. The queso was great. The tuna tostada was so unexpectedly fantastic. The mixed fajitas were our favorite and unforgettable. The steak and chicken were so tender and the house made flour tortillas were perfect. We seriously can’t wait to come back.

Food is fine, but drinks need some work. Bar tender made things weak and incorrect. For example someone in my party ordered a vodka soda with a splash of cranberry and it came out red. A traditional old fashioned was sweet and despite the drink supposedly being mostly bourbon, it was weak.
Food was fine, the enchiladas are over sauced way too much, it’s the recipe and was consistent for our group. I will say that the guacamole was phenomenal, I ate a lot of that. I could see the kitchen staging area and I did notice a prep cook taking the time to ensure a lime was perfectly centered in the rice before allowing a waiter to take it. This stood out to me and and as I continued spying I noticed other items where they took time to pay attention to detail in the kitchen.
Drinks were disappointing though, margaritas were fine but tasted watered down, despite me asking for a traditional tequila, lime juice and Cointreau with salted rim. It was a recurring theme that was really the only downside to the experience. I rated the atmosphere lower since our servers were fine when we moved to a table .

First Time Going to Superica and it was great!
Lots of choices on the menu for everyone to eat from as well as being very filling for the proportion sizes given. The overall theme of the place was nice, definitely check this place out if you have the time and want a Tex-Mex style!
Only thing that was lacking was service near the beginning but they were busy at the time besides that sever was very respectful and friendly the whole time!
Also wanted to mention great bathrooms all individual bathrooms as well as clean!

To start, the guy who greeted us was not very friendly and he’s greeted me once before with the same energy. The food really depends on what you get, I wasn’t a fan of their enchiladas. Another table sent the enchiladas back as well on a separate visit, they’re far from traditional which is fine but they just weren’t really good! Nachos were fine. Fajitas are my fave but I can’t lie, they’re pretty pricy in my opinion and they should definitely come with both rice and beans for the cost. The number of tortillas they give you just depends on the day i guess. Sometimes they don’t give enough, other times more than enough ♀️
Drinks…. Don’t even bother.. super pricey, barely any alcohol and small drinks for the cost (1.5-2ounces for drinks in the $20-$30 range).
