Had the banh xeo. Was oily and soggy , the top was fine. Inside was fried pork and many a ton of onions. There was no small bowl to use for the fish sauce it dip it into. Not good.
The vermicelli bowl was ok. Good portion better than the pancake.
The place is small but cosy, the staff are friendly and able to speak French, English and Vietnamese.
The food is really great, pretty balanced and flavorful. I haven’t traveled to Vietnam yet but I have eaten Vietnamese few times in different cities and this one definitely ranks among the top.
Got the Papaya salade with Shrimp – pretty refreshing with the herbs and not too sour or salty, well balanced – Pho with beef – the soup base is light but rich in flavor from the beef broth, meat slices are pretty thick and good portion of rice noodles – Bo Bun with chicken – the grilled chicken was really juicy and flavorful, the fried spring roll added a surprising nice texture and fattiness, combined with the pickled carrots and cucumber, very interesting dish.
Papaya Salade 7.5
Pho Beef 8.0
Bo Bun Chicken 8.0
46 euro 2 pers.
Worth the visit and good enough to revisit in the future.
I’m a tough critic of Vietnamese food as a viet girl myself, but this was a really solid spot!
Highly recommend the caramelized pork & egg, also called thit kho! The cafe special with egg cream was also a banger!
The staff was so nice, the prices are great, and overall a super lovely meal.
I have tried and shared a handful of things (the food works well for sharing if you are dining with others) – the shrimp fresh spring rolls, the shrimp rice, stir fried noodles with tofu and veggies and the vegetarian bo bun are all really good (I don’t eat meat).
Definitely recommend giving this restaurant a try if you’re in Paris wanting to try Vietnamese food!
