Born in Foggia, Italy, Lucio “Lou” Bozzelli co-founded with his brother, Tony, what was originally known as “Bozzelli’s Brothers Deli. Their business philosophy was simple: SERVE. GOOD. FOOD. Initially, the menu was limited to cold Italian sub sandwiches because they could not afford a grill. Through word of mouth, the only form of advertising the believed in, their business started to grow and as their budding operation improved they expanded the menu to include hot food like steak subs and pizza. Lou’s brother, Tony, continued to operate the business after Lou’s passing in 1989. To honor Lou’s legacy, his wife and children looked to the stars for inspiration–hence, the spaceman–and relaunched the shop and have now grown to five stores.

Bozzelli’s was close to our hotel so decided to try it out. Nice clean restaurant. Found seats at 6pm on a Monday night. (December). Kids had pepperonis pizza and gave it 5stars. Husband and I shared the Island Time. Delish!!! Daughter (11) got an order of buffalo wings and gave them 4.5 stars. No picture of Island Time….we ate it too fast!

It’s not often we come to inner DC area, but when we do, we make it a tradition to go to bozzelli’s every time.
Armando is one of the most pleasant and nicest people on the planet. Honestly whoever we get anytime we come here, is amazing to us.

We only wanted to eat pizza, so we went specifically to a pizzeria. They didn’t have pizza with cheese.At our request, they made us a cheese pizza. It was very tasty and filling. There were very few of them, but that was the advantage: a relaxing time.

I’ve done takeout here a couple of times. Both times, the food was delicious. Last time, I had a margherita pizza and this time tried the boom boom wings, a sandwich, and side Caesar salad. I love the ability to order online direct with the restaurant, and the ability to customize the order so easily. The team member who took my order both times was very helpful and friendly. I highly recommend, and will be back.

If I lived here, I would be a regular customer for the customer service alone! The front register person took the time to tell me what the public enjoys as well as his personal favorite; then I watched as the whole team seemed to really communicate and smile with each other while making some of the best pizza I’ve eaten. We walked forever to get to Stan’s at 9:30, and we’re so bummed they were full. But Bozzellis was open and we were hungry.

What’s more? It didn’t need to be. The food stands for itself in exceptional quality and flavor. I LOVED my pizza. In the end they were closed and let finish with no rushing. Bozzellis felt like home on the first visit.
