What a discovery! Over the past few months we’ve been exploring the food scene in Champaign Urbana and what a find this was! Watson’s Shack & Rail is amazing! Not only are their chicken sandwiches the best we’ve ever had, everything we’ve tried is delicious! The pretzel is a must and the waffle fries were perfect. Don’t miss the Nashville Hot Chicken & Waffles either! You won’t be disappointed!

We love eating here because they have a delicious vegan option (Tofu po boy) and they added the tofu basket recently. I just want to point out that the server didn’t know that honey was not vegan.

What a fantastic lunch! Started with the special which was potato wedges with blue cheese, pulled chicken, I think some kind of sauce and coleslaw. Think southern poutine. Totally delicious. I had the chicken with white sauce, my son had the hot chicken sandwich, and my husband had the fried chicken sandwich. All delicious. Sides were Cajun green beans, Mac and cheese, and mashed potatoes and gravy. Also all delicious. Finally, I needed to use the rest room and found a shrine to Dolly Parton. A+ all around.

Stopped late night for some drinks and snacks and it exceeded our expectations! The pretzel was annazing and the adult slushy flight was delicious! The Dole Whip rum slushy in particular was SO good. Will definitely go back to try the chicken. Lots of people ordered chicken & waffles.

Don’t trust reviews older than 6 months, as things have seriously changed. Watson’s used to be one of the best restaurants in town. That was until they swapped their high quality menu items with Sysco muck. You can now expect to get the same deep fried garbage here as any other low-mid range pub in the country. We have eaten there several times a month for years. We won’t be back after our last experience. I cannot overstate how disappointing it was. Several of our favorite menu items were removed and replaced with pathetic alternatives. The two stars are solely for their staff, as they are still excellent. Zero stars for the food. Don’t bother.

Delicious food, but honestly not my favorite chicken. The best part about this meal was the brussel sprouts with (maybe) a curry cream sauce. The brussel sprouts are fried so they are deliciously crispy and flavorful complementing the sauce. I had the chicken sandwich (fried chicken thighs) with green beans. It was pretty average. The chicken was good quality, but it was a standard sandwich with greens, pickles, and sauce. Next time I would get the spit roasted chicken as the fried thigh was not my personal favorite. My friend had the spit roasted chicken. It was flavorful, but it was a tad in the dry side.
Server was very nice and helpful. Restaurant atmosphere is good and there’s a nice bar seating area. Would go again, but maybe would try something else.
