We bought a takeaway from this restaurant on Saturday and it was fantastic. I wasn’t impressed with my local Indian restaurant so picked this one after reading the reviews even though it was 8 miles away.. I was glad I did. Food was excellent and they even added a couple of poppadoms free of charge. Service was polite and professional too. Only complaint was waiting an additional 15mins after my allotted pick-up time but it was well worth the wait. I won’t hesitate to use this restaurant again

Having recently moved from Dundee, I was looking for a good takeaway to order from. So far, the takeaways I’d looked at didn’t offer the same kind of meal deals we were used to in Dundee, and the Chinese takeaways aren’t great. Looking at the menu, I initially thought there wasn’t much choice, but decided to give it a go anyway.

I picked up our order, and when we opened it, we started with the poppadoms and dip — it was one of the best dips I’ve ever had (I really enjoy my food). The chicken pakoras were very nice — different, but made with fresh meat. The vegetable pakoras were honestly the best I’ve ever eaten.

The curry was slightly on the sweet side( my partner said it’s how it supposed to be) but very delicious, and the peshwari naan was delightful. For the first time ever, I didn’t have a single bad comment about any of the dishes. Usually, I prefer different items from different places, but this time I enjoyed every single bite.
I would recommend the place, probably we’ll try the buffet, as well.
Forgot to mention that the staff seemed very nice and friendly.

I so wish we could offer higher than a 5 star rating for service in this restaurant. There is a very good reason they won an award for service!
While at the buffet my daughter asked if the pakora were gluten free as she has an allergy to wheat, the waiter told her no, so she avoided them.
Ten minutes later, the waiter appeared at our table with two specially made gluten free pakora especially for her! Such amazing service.
Personally I don’t eat meat but I do love the sauce that they cook it in, so I had loads of different sauces with plenty of naan and rice to soak it all up.
On the subject of rice, if you like rice pudding, I HIGHLY recommend theirs (in the desert section).

Not sure why this place has got such high reviews. The food was just mediocre, and it’s such a shame because the staff are lovely. 10/10 service, but the food wasn’t great. The starters were good, but the mains were subpar. The tikka masala tasted like tomato soup, and the jalfrezi and the south indian garlic chilli had a peculiar flavour and little spice. The korma was nice, but nothing too special. I wish I could rate this place higher but the food just wasn’t great. Good value though, I would recommend if you just want some decent food for a decent price in a good atmosphere. But I would rather they charged a bit more and offered nicer curries. Maybe the dinner options are better than the lunch, but this is all I can say so far. Overall, I wouldn’t really recommend, unless you just like korma.

UPDATE 25/11/25
After the review below the restaurant very kindly sent me a £20 voucher which I used today, chicken tandoori starter, south Indian garlic chilli chicken main, pilau rice plus a garlic naan. The tandoori chicken might have been a shade overcooked but it was really tasty and tender, the main had plenty chicken in but wasn’t short of sauce either, nann very good indeed too. All in all impressive meal indeeed. My heartfelt thanks to the management for the voucher.
It would definitely seem that the previous visit below is not typical, either they had a bad night or I made bad choices.
Therefore my ratings have been upgraded.

Visited tonight and ordered onion bhaji, special karahi bhuna and a garlic naan and was told it would be available to pick up in 30 mins – good sign cooking to order
The onion bhaji is flat like a battered burger and not hot , it also came with large chunks of raw onion.
The special karahi, which is described as made with a host of spices was bland and tasteless and rather sweet certainly not spicy, it contained a couple of large chunks of uncooked tomato, the onions in it were very discoloured and mushy and we’re certainly not freshly cooked.
The 2 free poppadoms provided again were not fresh and crispy but rather stale.
The garlic naan was very good but on the small side
Almost £17 for a takeaway meal as described above was definitely not value for money and I would not recommend a visit

Wow, completely surprised and impressed by this Nepalese / Indian buffet in Cowdenbeath. Cost for a family of four was £51.70. Excellent value: starter, soup, over a dozen main dishes, and dessert selection with ice cream. Men’s bathroom was the cleanest I’ve seen after a month in the UK. If you’re in the area, definitely worth a stop or even a special trip: you leave full and impressed.

I struggle with spicy food but love Indian dishes so Shimla and their massive buffet is PERFECT for me! Sometimes I don’t always fancy a curry, so I tend to stick to the starters and have 2 portions, then enjoy the ice cream and strawberry sauce. The BEST spicy onions in any Indian restaurant I’ve ever had. Ever.
