Was at the Wilmington NC May faire location on 3/2/26 @ 4:30pm- 5pm for dine in. I ordered the pick 3 combo and my wife had the taco salad. It was not busy at all. The waitress we got sat us down and took our drink order. She brought our drink back with cold chips and salsa and took our food order. When the food was done she brought our food to us. She checked in on us one time while we were there eating. Toward the end of the meal I asked if we could have a refill on chips and salsa. She replied a side of chip and salsa. She brought back a to go order of chips and salsa put it on the table along with the check. I wasn’t even done eating my food yet. My wife and I looked at each other and were like okay I guess we are done. The waitress came right back grabbed the check and money and left with it. We were going to give her a larger tip but she rushed us away so quickly we didn’t have a chance to get more cash out. The food was only ok. The taco salad had no lettuce. the beef in it was greasy. My burrito had chicken. A small dollop of cheese and a few slivers of onion inside. The enchilada barely had any sauce on it and a few drops of cheese sauce on the side of the plate. First time eating here and won’t be back. Very disappointed.if I could give a zero on service I would. Spent 13.99 on combo plate and 14.99 on taco salad.

We were in around 5pm on Monday. Our waitress was unfriendly, in a rush, never refilled our chips, chips were cold , salsa was bland without salt, garlic, or cilantro, honestly it tasted just like pureed tomatoes unfinished. The taco salad was mostly greasy ground beef, hardly any lettuce, a huge dollop of sour cream which hid the fact there was little to no lettuce. I took 2 bites and my salad was down to a greasy pile of meat. My partner got a very bland burrito, hardly any cheese or onion, just a slab of pulled chicken. The waitress had little to do with us, but then miraculously showed back up at the end as if to get us out quickly, I was digging for more change in my purse for tip, she ferociously grabs the tray with what Id already laid out takes off with it. I am so disappointed in public service these days. Is everyone robotic and without personality? Where is the soul and charm? Can you smile? I will NEVER be back here. Horrible experience. BTW, this was our first time out to eat in over a year. We work a lot. So our special day out was ruined by this experience. It further exasperated the fact I really do not like going out to eat. Its always shy of what I come to expect. One of the perks of Authentic Mexican cuisine is bottomless chips and dip. You can do better! I shouldn’t have to sound a fog horn I need more chips. There were only a few people dining, so it wasnt busy.

I came here with a vicious appetite, and the portions did not fail. It tame and satisfying the beast. I’m ready to go walk this off. One of my favorite things about this place was the complimentary chips and salsa. But we not only got one salsa but 3, so everyone had their own sauce to dip. Music was great and service was above standard. We will be back!

Great place to eat mexican food! Very clean and they serve traditional American/Mexican food IYKYK. I left my wallet there one time and a week later i realized i didnt have my wallet, i back tracked and determined i may have left it here. I return to get it, verified whats in the wallet and sure enough nothing was taken. My AMEX, Discover, Chase, Capital One cards all were there along with like $60 cash! My cards were never compromised, never had to change the cards out or anything even years later. Very nice staff

My wife and I enjoyed this branch of El Cerro Grande. The location is perfect for us and is a never fail dinner. I will say that on this particular day though the taste was a bit different than the one on College Blvd as the shrimp was a little bland and smaller (over cooked) which is the reason for the 4 star review. Other than that service and atmosphere was top notch. Would definitely come here again if we decide not to drive to the college Blvd branch.

On a whim for my birthday my family and I stopped here to grab some dinner after the beach. Wonderful service, great atmosphere and food that I would drive back 2 hours just to eat again! We look forward to coming back to Wilmington and will definitely be eating here again!

Had lunch with a dear friend on a Tuesday. The food was fabulous! We ordered the steak fajita lunch special. There were generous portions so I had enough for a 2nd meal by adding a little arroz y frijoles negros I had at home. We spent a leisurely 2 hours without feeling rushed. I plan on inviting another friend to meet me there soon. Perhaps I’ll try the shrimp fajitas next time. The restaurant is tucked away across the road from Mayfaire. You are away from the hustle and bustle of the Military Cutoff Road. The atmosphe is quieter than their College Road location. Enjoy a delicious meal at a great value.

Food could use a little more flavor hot sauce not spicy enough for me. Will say you do get plenty for the price.

We arrived knowing there would probably be a wait, it was a Friday night. Earlier we had phoned to make sure we could bring our dog; I wish I had known they accepted reservations at that time. The outside patio had a group of 25 coming in shortly after us, but the staff went above and beyond to squeeze us in.
We were frequent patrons of El Cerro when it was located above the Harris Teeter near Wrightsville Beach and after moving away 20 years ago we were looking forward to going back. The service was friendly, fast and efficient just like we remembered. The food was so much better than we remembered! We had a great and very filling dining experience. My husband and I always ordered from the combo menu and that’s what we chose this time. The chili rellenos were perfect!
Looking forward to another trip back to our old home time and another visit to El Cerro!
