The first Gilligan’s restaurant opened in June 1991, and since then, we have grown to include six locations throughout the Lowcountry. It has been our pleasure to serve you for 27 years and counting! For the past two decades, we’ve worked hard to build our reputation as fine family restaurants by serving the freshest seafood and other ingredients available in a family-friendly, casual atmosphere. From our fresh seafood to special children’s meals and a warm, welcoming staff, our goal is to provide you with an unforgettable dining experience. We hadn’t been here in 10 years because we moved. We came to visit family and went out, our server was amazing! Spencer took great care of us. They personally handmade an appetizer that they no longer carry on the menu. The food was delivered on time, delicious, presentation was spot on and the price is great. I HIGHLY recommend this restaurant.

I haven’t eaten here in a long time but decided to stop by to support a small business. The service was good and the food was good. My calamari could have been fried a little harder, but this just means that I will tell them this the next time. We will be back.

Sea Scallop Picata and Grilled Seafood Trio
we’re our main courses (sorry no photo) Both were delicious. I especially enjoyed the Mahi Mahi. The scallops and roasted red potatoes were delicious. Our waitress was very kind and always checking on us. Great 1st time visit, would go again if we lived near one!

Let me just say this….I have been seeing this place for years. Yearsssss. I would always laugh to myself, because being from NY, the only thing I knew about Gilligan was the show about the 7 stranded castaways lol. As always on my quest to find the next great plate….I got compelled to give them a shot. I can’t find a word, that can describe accurately enough how good this experience was. From the customer service to the food. This place was amazing. I decided to get some shrimp and fried fish. With some fried grouper fingers. To not be so predictable I decided to go with the red rice and fried okra…. all delicious….the hidden gems though these little fried seasoned cornbread balls called hushpuppies….Babyyyyyyy. and there tarter sauce is unmatched. Just good good naw great food. Great experience all around. I can tell you this…. if Ginger, and Mary Ann was hooking it up like this on that island….don’t bother looking for me I’m a good here forever…..[whistling] the weather started getting rough this tiny ship was tossed….

The floor is noticeably sticky upon entering the establishment. The service wasn’t awful but it wasn’t fantastic either. We were sitting for several minutes before the waitress came to get our drink order and the place was not packed. They bring out a basket of hush puppies which have potential but it seems they weren’t drained properly or were put into a fryer on a lower heat that they should have been. I ordered the shrimp tacos with a side salad the salad was delicious. The tacos were actually quite good. My one complaint is the pineapple salsa really just appears to be pineapple chunks and not an actual salsa. My son and daughter both had fried shrimp which were fine. The popcorn shrimp was a little soggy and the fries were slightly chewy. I think both of those issues could be resolved with a higher temperature on the fryer itself. I can see why this restaurant was empty when I walked in. The service was painfully slow, and I never got a single drink refill. My food came out cold, and and salty. To make matters worse, the waitress had an attitude the entire time. At one point, I had to ask another waitress to get ours, even though she was clearly not busy or doing anything. The whole experience was frustrating and disappointing. Honestly, I should have just gone to Waffle House instead — at least there you know the service and food will be better.

– Initial Service: When our waitress first approached the table, her demeanor came across as dismissive and unwelcoming. First impressions are critical in hospitality, and unfortunately, this set a negative tone for the evening.
– Attention to Tables: Much of the staff’s attention was directed toward another table dealing with unrelated concerns about writing on their car windows. While I understand that situations arise, this issue was not connected to the restaurant and should not have taken precedence over serving paying customers.
– Food Service: After our food was delivered, the waitress disappeared for an extended period. Even guests at table 10 were looking for her, and another staff member had to track her down. When she was finally flagged by our table, she asked if we needed her, but then walked away without assisting us. By this time, my food had already gone cold, and I felt compelled to eat it as-is.
– Endless Oysters: we asked the waitress several questions about the endless oysters and she acted as though we should have already knew the answers. I don’t care if we were at a fast food restaurant or a 5 michelin star restaurant, any questions should be addressed without an attitude or assuming anything. The only way to find out something is to ask.
– Timing: We arrived shortly after 7 p.m., yet service delays and inattentiveness meant that by the time you checked on us, it was nearly 9 p.m. Asking about our needs so late in the evening felt rushed and insincere.
Overall Impression
Our table was neglected for much of the visit, and the service we did receive was inconsistent and inattentive. While I chose to stay because a member of my party wanted the oyster special, had I been dining alone, I would have left immediately. The lack of attentiveness, cold food, and dismissive attitude from staff made the experience unsatisfactory.
I hope this feedback is taken constructively, as improving attentiveness and professionalism could greatly enhance the dining experience for future guests.

Great service, delicious food well rounded flavor in every bite. The hush poppies and the coleslaw are amazing best we have had so far.

Went here last night after trying to go somewhere else that had a long wait. My friend and I had the Steamed shrimp with the red potatoes and coleslaw. The food was fantastic and tasted fresh! The kitchen knocked it out of the park! Service was great! Our drinks were never empty, and we felt super welcomed by the staff and the manger. I’ll definitely be recommending Gilligans to everyone!
Edit: I came back in today to have some drinks and light appetizers at the bar. I wish I could give this place 6 stars. The service is amazing!! Keep up the good work!
