We also met the owner who was a very charming Moroccan lady. She told me a bit about the age of the building, and gave me a little gift from Morocco. Such a nice person!
Mohamed, the guy who served us was also a very nice person. The atmosphere was enchanting and the food delicious and well served.
We don’t live in the area but if we did we would not hesitate to go back.
Thanks you guys for making us feel so welcomed!
I came here with 3 other people. First, there was lipstick on a cup we got at the start.
When our food got there, my friend found a piece of black hair with lint on it in his steak and eggs.
When the staff brought out a second pitcher of water, there was a piece of something floating near the bottom, and some sort of sludge (dough maybe?) on the side. It was seriously so bad. We didn’t say anything to the staff because we just wanted to leave.
The food itself was ok, I got the Chesapeake Eggs Benedict, which had very good tasting crab meat. However, the eggs were way overcooked. Think hard boiled egg.
Two of us got the steak and eggs, which were unfortunately bland. No salt or pepper on the eggs at all, and the steak tasted like someone just put it on the grill without adding anything.
One of us got the Shakshouka which was really good. I thought the hash browns were also really good but that is about it in terms of nice things to say about this place.
I left feeling sick to my stomach, especially after we noticed the lump floating in the water.
Our bill came out to like 130 dollars including a 20% tip, which is really not a great price for such a horrible experience.
We didn’t say anything to the staff because we didn’t want to be karens but it was really bad.
Overall bad experience.
The food was fresh, flavorful, and came out quickly, but what really stood out was the service. Mou checked in at the perfect times, made thoughtful recommendations, and made us feel comfortable and welcome the whole time. It honestly made the meal feel more personal.
If you’re stopping by Twist Cafe, I definitely hope you get served by Mou. Great food is one thing, but great service is what makes you want to come back, and that’s exactly what happened here.
