I’m very picky when it comes to Sushi joints but this one was surprising. I typically don’t eat at places that don’t serve fresh Wasabi and this place didn’t have it. However, my daughter loooves this place so we tried it. Her favorite is the Magnificent roll. If you like spicy, this roll is great with jalapeños and spicy masago on top. Because I can’t eat spicy, it wasn’t my favorite lol I’ve been eating more vegetarian options and I tried the Smurf which was my favorite and MT SI which was surprisingly refreshing with apples in it. The had soooo many roll creations and it was difficult to eat as many rolls as we liked on their AYCE menus. If you go during dinner hours you can order from both sides of the menu and for $10 less you can visit them for lunch but you can only order limited rolls on their lunch menu. The drinks were almost as expensive as the AYCE price lol and we didn’t order any alcohol, just one specialty drink and 4 cups of tea (I’m used to unlimited tea served in a pot). Unfortunately, Iwas disappointed in their unagi, which is my favorite! There aren’t a lot of sushi joints that actually serve it well, so if unagi is your thing … don’t get it here. But their roll creations and diversity make up for it, I guess. All in all, yes, I would go back but I wouldn’t order eel and I’d stick with water lol

If you love Sushi, and as much as you can eat, then you can’t go wrong eating at Trappers. Everything on the menu is fantastic. When you sit at the sushi bar you will have the best experience ever. You’ll see how the chef’s really care about their customers. While sitting there one of the chefs looked up and said to the other chef “get some octopus ready”. Sure enough the gentleman who sat near me ordered a roll that had octopus. Try this place when you get a craving for sushi, you won’t be disappointed.

We’ve been coming to Trappers since they opened here in Surprise. We have NEVER had a bad experience. The service is always phenomenal, and the food is to die for. It is always perfectly made, and the presentation rivals even restaurants in Japan! The manager has come to speak to us on several occasions, and we have nothing but good things to say. The servers are attentive and genuinely friendly. The food always comes super quick and is always amazing!! I definitely recommend if you haven’t tried it yet. Their Happy Hour is so worth it. Amazing food at affordable prices with superb service and a great atmosphere!

Front desk lady (in photo) needs to be fired for her unprofessional behavior. We have come here for years and never been told we can’t have a table for all you can eat with a child and was met with such attitude. After letting the manager know, we ended up with our usual table. Also, waitress also tried to tell me we could only do 1app/1sushi at a time when because the service is so slow, we order multiple at once. We used to love this place but won’t be back anymore.

It was our first time reviews had us at wanting to try it out. It was a Thursday evening casual attire, beat to call ahead in case you need a reservation. It was not busy drinks not good I had a martini and it was ehhhh the double margarita my husband had was all lime juice, sushi was mostly rice no protein plenty of rice though and crème cheese, I ordered the Rammy and it was supposed to be the spicy roll out of all of them based on waitress high recommendation well guess what it wasn’t even a tiny bit. I have been to other chain food restaurants that can stuck to tasty food and also family owned restaurants that make way better sushi and super tasty this place did not meet my expectations. Will not be coming back. Staff was nice

This is our 4th visit to Trappers and it continues to be delicious.

We had the whole family time so we ordered Yacht #1 which includes the California Crunch, Bonney Lake, Puyallup, Trapper rolls and two orders of Goyza!

At the top of the picture is the California Crunch
(Spicy crab, teriyaki & avocado rolled in tempura crumbs.) Very light and a nice balance of flavors.

The next one down in the picture is the Bonney Lake (Crystal shrimp with cream cheese, fried in tempura, covered with spicy crab, teriyaki & hot sauce.) The group was divided on this one. The spicy crab seeming like BBQ pork and then a simple hot sauce. I actually enjoyed the texture differences and the familiarity of the hot sauce.

The next one down in the picture is the Puyallup
(Salmon, avocado & cream cheese fried in tempura topped with a special sauce, teriyaki & green onion.) This was my least favorite of the food tonight with the special sauce being very mayonnaise heavy, in my opinion. It just overtook the other flavors.

To the far left and far right was the Mt. Si, (ordered separately and not a part of what is included with the Yacht; Smoked salmon, apple and cream cheese, topped with avocado and sweet chili sauce.) We order the Mt. Si because it was and is our favorite. The balance between the sweetness and tart of the apple, followed by the sweet chili sauce is just excellent.

Lastly is the Trapper. (Crystal shrimp covered with spicy cooked scallops, teriyaki, green onion & masago.) People were divided on this as well saying the scallops over powered the other flavors. I enjoyed the texture differences again but would ask for less scallops as the other flavors are lost, in my opinion.

The shishito peppers were and are still a big hit. The kids also loved them with the sauce. A perfect amount of breading providing a great little crunch.
The Gyoza, were fried perfectly with a perfect crunch.
The edamame were simple but good and well salted.

The kids teriyaki chicken meal with rice and apples was perfect for our toddler.

The atmosphere was friendly and welcoming. Whether it be for a date night or dinner with the family, you will be good to go! The service and staff were all kind and professional.

3*** = Good but no separation from similar restaurants
4**** = Set themselves a part and their food is different and I want to go back.
5*****= You have to go out of your way and make a special trip to try the deliciousness that is there!

Great food with a huge selection of unique rolls. Wish they had a straight sashimi menu of more than a few things. But over everything was top notch, I will definitely be back.

It’s tough to beat the value of AYCE. The fish was fresh. The rice is not as flavorful as I’ve had at numerous other sushi places, but it’s okay. The servers really were hustling. Nice atmosphere, very bright. Hot green tea was nice as well. I’d come back.

First time at Trappers. What a great place! Our server Lindsey (spelling?) was super attentive and sweet. We had a few of the appetizers which were on lar with other sushi places. We personally didn’t care for the peppers, so she took them off the bill without any issue. The sashimi appetizer was AMAZING. Great cuts of salon, yellowtail and tuna.

The chicken teriyaki was good. I ordered two rolls that were flavorful and large. My only minor complaint was how thin some of the fish was on top of the roll.

I recommend this place as a guy from San Diego who grew up with fresh fish.

Went for the all you can eat lunch special and it was such a good deal. Each roll ordered was incredible! My personal favorite was the Willis closely followed by the Bonney Lake. I have also ordered takeout and enjoyed the Trump roll.
