Excellent experience!!! Date night dinner with my wife this weekend on our adventures out by Starved Rock State Park. First time dining in the restaurant. The restaurant definitely has a ton of atmosphere. Nice menu selection and excellent service from Emily/Steven. Emily will know what I mean by that.
Like I said, nice menu selection for dinner. We both went with fish for dinner. I had the walleye and my wife had the catfish. Both were excellent choices and tasted fantastic. Boy do they give you a lot of walleye! The two filets were enormous, but very tasty! I could only finish one and part of another. We had artisan ice cream for dessert and it was delicious! I had the vanilla and my wife the strawberry. Both were great, but the strawberry was awesome!
Such a great evening out with my wife for dinner there. Excellent experience and highly recommended! Enjoy!

Server was kind, attentive and helpful. However, the food was… not. Pancakes were very raw with runny batter in the middle, fruit tasted like soap and was VERY sour and not ripe, and the pepper tasted like it had been sitting there for a year and legitimately tasted moldy. Spent $45 for two people to eat very poor quality food.
Bathroom was also very gross with 2/3 stalls being completely clogged and the one working one had no toilet paper.

Went with a group to listen to a Jimmy Buffet tribute band. We had a Hawaiian themed lunch. Most of the food contained pineapple. I don’t care for it, so I didn’t eat much. The servers were very attentive and friendly and made sure we had everything. The atmosphere was very nice and rustic. It was a very nice place.

Where to begin? We started our day with breakfast here. Fruit and bacon a la carte and waffles with strawberries. Service was glacial, but we weren’t in a hurry. Went back for dinner. Arrived at 6:15 for our 6:30 reservation. Monday night on a three-day weekend . . . about 30% full dining room. We were seated at 6:20. Our waitress finally came by our table with menus at 6:40 – we asked for iced tea and water. She came back at 6:45 with a basket that had two very dry biscuits and said she’d be back to take our orders. At 6:50 she finally took our order and got us the iced tea we had asked for at 6:40. At 6:55 – 35 minutes after we arrived, she let us know that they didn’t have duck my wife ordered. Wife switched her order to a Caesar salad. At 7:10 – 50 minutes after we arrived, my fillet with carrots and french fries arrived, along with my wife’s Caesar salad. This was 25 minutes after the orders had been taken – apparently the carrots had been boiling the entire time, because they were the consistency of baby food. The fries were limp, soggy and cold. The salad was soggy and over dressed. Fearing the wait for the check, we asked for it when the food was delivered. Check arrived at 7:18 and was processed by our credit card company at 7:21. We were celebrating my birthday, so they DID provide a free dessert . . . an ice cream Sundae which was pretty far along to melting by the time it made it to our table at 7:25. We never did get the water we requested at 6:40. We had planned to have breakfast here on Tuesday morning, but have decided to go elsewhere.

I got the country skillet, it was great! My child got chocolate chip pancakes and they were well cooked and came with a choice or protein. Would go again! Everyone was very friendly, waitress was very kind!

The Thanksgiving buffet was excellent. We enjoyed the food. They had brunch items as well as traditional thanksgiving food.
The chef at the ham carving station was great. They also had a custom omelette station and an incredible dessert table.
The host station was efficient and I appreciated that everything was included in the prepaid amount.
Basically everything was amazing, except for our server. She came to our table once and then apparently left for the day. No one came back to our table after that, even after we asked the bussers for a server to refill drinks, etc.. We actually had to find someone at the end of our meal so that we could leave.

After hiking for 2.5 hours this was a great place to hang out and have lunch! They had a wide variety of winter cocktails and an extensive food menu. We shared a couple of appetizers and tried their amber ale. We ate and drank in the lounge area which was super busy for a Saturday afternoon in December. I had the Prancer flies again made with caramel vodka, Baileys and creme de cocoa. The service was laid back and a bit slow but the food came very quickly after we ordered.
