Coast To Coast
Caballo Blanco has been a part of my family’s story for over 50 years. My parents were coming here long before I was born, and now it is a tradition that continues with us. We live in Washington now, but every time we come back to visit family, we make it a point to stop in. We were just down the week before the Super Bowl and, as always, made sure Caballo Blanco was on our list. It simply would not feel like a proper trip home without a meal here.
If you go, always ask for the flour chips. Trust me, they are a must and set the tone for everything that follows. Pair them with their salsa and an order of nachos and you have a combination that never disappoints. The soup is excellent on its own, but it is even better with a half spoonful of their salsa stirred in, a small touch that takes it to another level.
I love the chili verde and chili colorado, and the chicken burrito is perfect for lunch. Honestly, anything you order will be authentic, flavorful, and satisfying. The food is rich, comforting, and consistently prepared the way it always has been. No shortcuts, no trends, just real, traditional dishes done right.
Caballo Blanco is not just a place to eat, it is a place where the food carries decades of memories. It is tradition, authenticity, and quality all on one plate, and that is what keeps us coming back year after year

I have been to this place a bunch of times. They used to have the most wonderful chips here, but now they make you pay for them. I have also reviewed this place before, but for some reason all my pictures and review is gone. So the food has gone down hill a lot to where I want to venture out and try other places. The help is very friendly but the wait can be long. They kept filling my water but is was all ice and really not much to drink. The quesadilla was small, the chicken was dry and the shell for the taco was kinda stale tasting. Wish my other review was still up. The salsa is good here but better with the flaky chips I would tell everyone about them. Sad they don’t give you those anymore. Maybe next time I go here it will be good again used my goto place in South Sacramento.

I’ve been to Caballo Blanco a couple of times throughout the years as it is a staple locally owned Mexican restaurant in South Sac. The restaurant is decades old, but decently kept. Very eclectic atmosphere, almost like you’re in someone’s abuela’s house. There are plenty of tables for large parties, many booths, and an entire room to rent out for events. Parking is accessible from the lot around back.
This style of Mexican cuisine is admittedly not my favorite. I’m more of a fan of the light, fresh mariscos or coastal style. This is more of a traditional, saucy, cheesy, heavy type of food. The flavors are good, the food comes out hot and fast, and the portions are large. The soup that comes with most meals is delicious! It is sort of a kitchen sink soup with lots of vegetables, meat, noodles, and rice. Their salsa is delicious and full of flavor, on the spicier side. But the chips aren’t homemade anymore.
The best thing about this restaurant is the service! Our server was extremely attentive. She anticipated our needs, was highly communicative, and didn’t rush us through our dining experience.
Overall, this restaurant is definitely worth checking out!!! I appreciate what Caballo Blanco brings to the community and am sure that we will be back.

If you like traditional Mexican food this is the place! they have the best chili colorado I’ve had in years, in fact you won’t find it anywhere better then here. The servers and the rest of the staff are amazing and kind.

Consistently delicious, and with excellent service. I don’t think I’ve ever had a thing to complain about here. It’s not gonna break new ground with Mexican food innovation, but that is not what I’m looking for when I come here. Just hella good food, Everytime.

We love Caballo; they’ve been serving our family for at least three generations! Everything is delicious from their flour tortilla chips to their enchiladas. My usual is a large soup and beef tacos-THE BEST! If they ever close their doors, a part of my heart would be missing. Thank you, Caballo Blanco Family! Love you!

Very quick and friendly to serve you. Portions are really big, flavor is pretty decent. Unlimited chips with quick refills on your drink.

I’ve been going to Caballo Blanco for many years now. This most recent visit was not my greatest experience here. There was some tension between a couple of workers that was going on where we could hear them. They plainly do not care for one another (yikes)… making it awkward and weird for us sitting there hearing it. Our server is a very nice man who has worked there for as long as I have been going to eat there. He was very overwhelmed due to being short staffed. We felt bad for him, but he was getting the job done. Unfortunately, I felt that my rice was old (reheated), not fresh, so i could not eat it. We asked for the flour chips but never received any. My chili Verde was OK, not too much flavor. I ate it, tho. I’ll never give up on this restaurant, tho so I think it was just one bag day or of many good ones!!

Very disappointing! food quality was exceptionally poor compared to previous visits many years ago. Server forgot just about everything she possibly could. Never going back to this place
