I had the pleasure of dining at Margaux by La Sirène on Valentine’s Day, and it was truly an unforgettable experience. The ambiance was absolutely perfect for the occasion — romantic, elegant, and thoughtfully arranged without feeling overcrowded despite how busy the evening was.

The food was exceptional. Every dish was beautifully presented and full of rich, authentic flavor. You can tell they pay close attention to quality and detail.

A very special thank you to Chantel, the manager, who made the night even more memorable. Even on such a busy holiday, she remained calm, attentive, and incredibly welcoming. She made sure everything ran smoothly and that guests felt special.

Her staff was equally impressive — friendly, professional, and attentive throughout the entire evening. Service was seamless, and we never felt rushed.

Spending Valentine’s Day there was the perfect choice. I highly recommend Margaux by La Sirène for anyone looking for a romantic night with amazing food and outstanding service. We’ll definitely be back!

Eddie was great! Came in on a night of a snowstorm and enjoyed the duck and rabbit. Cooked perfectly. The noise level inside wasn’t too loud which is a nice change from many restaurants. The bread was rustic and much about the food reminds us of one our favorite restaurants in Paris.

Went on a Saturday night — after getting dissed at a fancy Italian place nearby that was very busy and overly trendy — and sat at the bar. Server was very attentive and very good with recommendations for food and wine. Some notes:

Calamari appetizer was a very inspired dish; not typical fried or sautéed calamari but rather an invention of a very good chef.
Could use more seasoning (modern chefs seem to not be properly trained in this regard) but was very very good nonetheless.

Nice atmosphere; not a very large restaurant but bar was clean and nice; the space itself was small and intimate. Not too loud so nice for a romantic or quiet dinner.

Baguette very authentic and was excellent with calamari. Had a hangar steak with fries for dinner. It was very good and properly cooked with a nice side of vegetables.

For dessert I had warm chocolate cake which was executed to perfection. Highly recommend this place if you want an inspired French dinner.

Update: Feb 2026
Went there for restaurant week lunch. The quality is still top notch. Fries were still great as well as their mayo, tried the Parisian gnocchi and it was so perfect! So cheesy and aromatic. Beet salad and onion soup was also amazing very classical. The mussels weren’t as fresh as before, but the seasoning was still on point. They use herbs very well, all the dishes had the right amount of aromatics in them. I would say one of the best restaurants I’ve tried in nyc. I will be back for more updates.

2025 review: Quite empty on the last day of a long weekend. Maybe it was because of that, but the food and service was phenomenal. The classic mussel was the best thing I had in a while, and the French fries that came with it was absolutely the!! Best French fry anyone can ask for. The mayo they made with their olive oil was so yummy and the balsamic glaze/olive oil/ bread was also on point. My filet mignon was very well cooked sauce was good too. My partner’s duck was good, sauce was amazing. Only thing to improve was their side that comes with the main dish, it was a bit cold and could tell they prepared it a while ago, but this is only for future improvements. For me honestly everything was perfect. Would visit again soon.

French style restaurant. Staff helpful. Specialty hanger steak was a bit tough. Beef tongue in broth wasn’t well seasoned and needed to be warmer. Staff helpful and attentive. Clean nice atmosphere.

Came here before our Broadway show this evening. Quaint and calm atmosphere with chill music. Great attentive staff. Everything was done with perfection, not too salty with hearty flavors. The casserole dish with cannellini beans was fantastic! Broiled oysters with butter, WOW! Pork tenderloin with mushroom sauce, outstanding. Will become a new staple in my dining arsenal.

I didn’t actually want to eat here.
A friend of mine booked it?
they wanted $60 to cancel!!
we really had no choice!
I didn’t want him to lose his money for no reason.
I wanted to sit in a booth
They tried to say that it was booked, but it was an empty table.
It seemed like they didn’t to bother setting another table.
I ordered a salad ,which was nice enough. The bread was good.
The butter was cold and hard, good thing the bread was warm.
my friend ordered a French onion soup which was covered in cheese which looked very unappealing. The cheese was overflowing all over the side.
He ordered some sliced hangar steak?
I wanted it rare , it was more like medium it was nothing special. compared with another place that I’ve had steak
which was absolutely amazing. I ordered the fries because a reviewer said they were really good?
fries at In-N-Out burger are far superior!
I read online that they were supposed to actually come with a meal, From another reviewer?
$12 for skinny overcooked fries that were extremely salty.
My friend ordered tap-water, which tasted unfiltered. it had no ice, it was lukewarm.
The Service was nothing special,
I didn’t feel very welcome.
People at the table next to us were one of those groups that had one guy who spoke so loud!
I don’t know why some people have to speak so loud at others opposite them, it put me right off.
The salad looked pretty,
the bread was good,
the steak was just very basic to me.
overcooked on the outside. not rare like
I wanted it was sliced up already, I was given a steak knife
I didn’t find the waiter too friendly he seemed like he didn’t want to be there.
It was definitely not a fun atmosphere for Christmas Eve.
we were supposed to go to another French place le grand Boucherie,
Which looked beautiful & Festive!
we were stuck to go to this place.
I would never eat there again.
I’m sure they are far better French restaurants in Manhattan, than this one.
This place has high ratings maybe the chef had an off day?
$120 for 2
I guess his whiskey probably added $15
For a French restaurant, they didn’t even speak French?
I was not impressed at all!
I wouldn’t recommend it sorry.

The restaurant is brand new and has only been open for a week, who I assume was the manager/owner came by to talk to us. Our server was super friendly and welcoming as well.

Here is what we tried
Olive oil and balsamic vinegar was delicious. I don’t know what kind of balsamic vinegar but it’s not typical watery kind. It was more like a glaze.
The mussels (we ordered the Marinières style) were the standout dish. The sauce was packed with fresh herbs and flavor. We ended up drinking much of it using the mussel shells. I would definitely come back just to try the other styles.
The gnocchi parisiens au gratin was also memorable. The texture was rich, soft and creamy, and the real shaved summer truffle on top made it feel fancy.
We also really enjoyed the beet salad. It was fresh and light, and the slice of Brie added a creamy contrast to the beets.

We had the sautéed calamari with garlic as well. It was tender and flavorful, with just the right amount of seasoning.

Least favorite:
The sautéed chicken liver salad wasn’t really for me. While the portion of chicken liver was generous, I wish there had been more salad or something on the side to help balance the richness. The greens were possibly cooked from the heat of the liver. Since it was listed under salads, I was expecting something a little more refreshing. Maybe I just don’t know enough about French food, but this one didn’t quite work for me.

Overall, the food was solid with a few standout dishes. I do love that their food is fresh and made from scratch. I’d love to come back and try more, especially the other mussel preparations.
Also happy hour is at the bar only!

Incredible traditional french food with great service and wine selection. We went once last weekend and were back this week. Brunch and dinner were incredible. For brunch, you can’t miss the goat cheese tart. The Hollandaise sauce on eggs was also delicious. For dinner we had the lamb rack and duck. Their fries and house made mayonnaise were incredible. We also enjoyed the banana crème brûlée. Everything was cooked and seasoned perfectly. We’ll be returning again soon!

So happy we came for Sunday brunch. My friend had a Croque Monsuier while I had Croc Ratatouille.

Both were quite good.

Service was very good as well, & drinks were excellent.
