So I really wanted to like this place but wow, where do I even start.
Ordered an iced matcha with oat milk and asked if they could make it without added sugar apparently it’s pre-made and pre-sweetened with syrup so “not possible.” Okay fine, but what showed up was genuinely tragic. We’re talking sugar water with a hint of oat milk and like… a whisper of green. The color was so pale. No matcha flavor whatsoever. Easily the worst matcha I’ve ever had in my life, and it was NOT cheap. Also charging extra for plant-based milk in 2026??
The staff were not it either zero warmth, not accommodating at all..
Cappuccino was fine tho, no complaints. Banana muffin was good but overpriced they offered to warm it up which was cute, except it came out hot on the outside and literally still cold inside, so.
The vibe has potential but the matcha situation alone is enough to not come back.

The atmosphere is great. The service at dinner was excellent but at breakfast it was almost non-existent in the cafe. The French onion soup is super cheesy although on the salty side. Pancakes don’t come with maple syrup. Mussels, baked brie, and filet mignon were delicious. A bit overpriced but the happy hour deals are good and you can use up Amex FHR credits if you’re staying at the Pendry.

The oysters were fresh and good, the steak was great and taste fresh, and the steak tartare was flavorful and nicely balanced.
Overall, the food quality stood out more than anything else. Service and atmosphere were what you’d expect for a downtown Chicago brasserie — polished and comfortable. Not really my type of set up though…

Venteux offers an incredibly memorable absolutely stunning and pleasant atmosphere. The high ceilings, dramatic botanical mural, and beautiful natural light create an exceptional backdrop for a weekend meal.

I really like this place. Please note that in the evening only the restaurant area is open. There is a separate room used for breakfasts and croissants, with a large panoramic window and more decorations.
The restaurant is very cozy — you can sit at a table or at the bar, where you can watch the chef cooking. The food is tasty, the atmosphere is lovely, and the music is pleasant.
It’s a great spot for hanging out with friends or for a romantic date.

We actually went for happy hour Friday night and then back for Brunch on Saturday. Friday the bar was busy and we had the steak tartare and $1 oysters which were great! We also got the endless Rosè Friday then bottomless mimosa for brunch. Great deal if having 2 drinks. For brunch I got the egg sandwich and it was spicy and oh so goood and was recommended by the server. It was a great start to our day before exploring the city!

We had a decent experience at Venteux. The service was subpar. We had to ask for soup spoons and steak knife for our food and had to wait unto 5 minutes after the food arrived to get this. Not even once they came to our table to check up on us while dining and we had to flag down the staff to order drinks. Coming to the food, we ordered the French onion soup and it was the best dish of the night. For entrée, we had steak frites and spaghetti homard which was good, but defenitely not worth the price.

Decent for a quick meal in the hotel Pendry. The foie gras was a little under-seared and overly sweetened by the sauce. Steak frites was pretty good – and the fries hit the spot after a long travel day. The $100 Amex credit also made it worth it!

Came for breakfast and sat at the bar since they were busy. Ordered smoked salmon eggs benedict and duck and waffles. Food was delicious, rich yet balanced. Those potatoes were heavenly. During our meal, we had some order mishaps due to the busy breakfast period, but the waitress behind the bar serving us (unfortunately couldn’t get her name) was extremely kind. Overall great food and 5-star hospitality. Will come again!

Genuinely one of the best meals I’ve had in Chicago. Ordered off the happy hour menu to create my own sampler dinner. Loved the steak tartare and oysters but surprisingly my favorite thing was the winter greens salad! Very generous portion and so lovely salty and sweet. My waitress Amber was friendly and great as well!
