Many people ask us where our name comes from, or “who is Gian?” We always enjoy sharing a bit about our grandfather, Gian. He started the restaurant and Indian sweets business in 1940 in a little town called Jagraon, in the province of Punjab, India. Since then, our father has carried his name, taking over the business after our grandfather passed away. Gian’s has now been serving Abbotsford for over 20 years. Our dad is still involved in the business, lending a hand, and helping us to maintain our focus on traditional, quality Indian cuisine.

Modest eatery specializing in Indian dishes, with an expansive weekday & Sunday lunch buffet.

I come here for the lunch buffet, and the price is quite reasonable given today’s cost of eating out. Of all the Indian restaurants I’ve been to, this place has both the best tandoori chicken and the best butter chicken.  I believe the former is only available for the lunch buffet on Fridays and weekends.  You can really taste the BBQ on the tandoori chicken!

As for the butter chicken, many Indian places I go to boil the soul out of the chicken so that it’s tough and dry.  Not here.  Not only is the chicken tender, but it also tastes like they are using tandoori chicken in their butter chicken (so I guess you can still enjoy tandoori chicken, in a way, if you cannot make the aforementioned days).

The staff are diligent in making sure nothing in the buffet is depleted, especially the oven-fresh naan, so long as it’s not cutting close to closing time.  I also like the nice dining booths.

So happy they have a dinner buffet now. Always try to stop by here when passing through. Usually make the lunch buffet.
Today we found out they have the dinner buffet. Never disappoints.

Great dine-in experience at Gian’s Indian Cuisine. The food was fresh, tasty, and full of authentic Indian flavors. Prices are affordable and the portions are good. The restaurant is clean, the atmosphere is welcoming, and the staff are friendly and quick. Definitely a nice place for a comfortable and delicious meal.

One of our Favourite places for a Cozy Dinner. My sister surprised me with a light Dinner and snacks , she placed the orders B4 hand and it was a Beautiful Evening with a nice cup of tea ❤️
It was very quiet though, I think for Monday , most people like to stay home, but for Business I was thinking Sunday Buffets should be switched to Mondays , as we come on Sundays anyways but if Monday Buffets were available I’d be your first guest as it’s always Marvellous to not Cook after the first day of Monday evening , just a Suggestion

Wowzaz. This place deserves 6 stars. The best western Indian restaurant I’ve tried in my life. You’ll have a hard time finding better taste than this one. The paneer is incredible. They serve fresh naan served to table. Just absolutely amazing. The price is also very competitive and you’ll likely feel like you’ve found a bargain after you eat here. Just do it.

I ordered food for takeout today, ordered paneer tikka masala but got karahi paneer and that was not even fresh, naans were burnt and super thick feels like food was from the buffet items. Dal was okay paneer and naan were not edible.

I know its the “basic” Indian dish to order but the 1st time I got the Butter Chicken from here I absolutely fell in love. I live a little far away from this place but if I am ever even remotely close I make sure to stop in and get my fix. I order the Butter Chicken and ask for medium to spicy with rice and an order of garlic naan. Over the last decade obviously price has gone up as such as everything has. But overall it is still worth every cent. Highly recommend and hope you try this restaurant if you havent before. Cheers!

For 18 dollars it would be nice if the take out bowl was one size bigger , this is a small container.

That said the butter chicken is superior in flavor to other places in Abbotsford i’ve tried , the rice too is very flavorful and naan is good …
My first time ordering here , this place gets 2 thumbs up. /// Recommend

We have visited this restaurant for dinner buffet last week. Even we reach just before the buffet started. The food was so cold and hard to chew especially soya chaap and naan. It was sitting there from hours may be from lunch buffet left over , when asked for a fresh one it was never served until we left . Also asked for the water too but never served. There was 4 servers kept coming to ask how it is and if you need anything but they listen and ignored our request. One person should serve one table so they know , they all were walking around on the tables but didn’t getting back with what we asked for. Poor service.

TL DR: DO NOT DINE HERE. They serve Rusted Metal with food.

We ordered takeout from Gian’s Indian Cuisine on September 28 while heading to a friend’s place. Placing the order was easy and the staff on the phone were professional. They told us it would be ready in 30 minutes but it actually took 50. That delay meant we had to wait around and it pushed back our trip.

The food itself was expensive for the quality and taste. They also serve a buffet Monday to Thursday but after this experience I would not be interested in trying it.

The real problem was with the vegetable biryani. When we sat down to eat we found a large rusted iron bolt inside the dish. This was shocking and very concerning since it was meant for an elderly in our group. Thankfully he noticed it before eating. The dish had to be thrown out because of the health risk which left everyone hungry and upset.

On our way back we stopped at the restaurant and returned the biryani. They refunded 20 dollars which was fair but does not address the bigger concern which is food safety. Finding a rusted piece of metal in food is not something that can be excused with a refund.

This was my first time ordering from this restaurant and it will be my last. I cannot say if it was just one mistake or if it points to bigger issues in their kitchen but I am not willing to risk it again.

Based on my experience I DO NOT recommend this place.
