Fortel’s Pizza in Affton is a strange experience. They have a big sign to educate you on the peculiarities of their establishment prominently placed in the dining area. It’s a curiosity of its own and I’ll include a pic. So much for that, maybe it’s an Affton cultural thing. Next, check out the pic of my sandwich. Well, half sandwich because I had just finished half of it. The bread was moderately stale and the meat and other contents were meager and bland – especially for the price. We ordered chicken strips too, bland as well. The prices were remarkably high for such mediocre offerings. One restroom was locked and the other had prominent signs warning that only paying patrons were to use it. Upon entering the restroom, the floors were dirt and stuck to my shoes. One sink didn’t work and the fixtures were covered with unspeakable filth that looked as if it had been present for months. No wonder they warn people away from their restrooms! In addition, the soft drink fountains had more than one selection that was dispensing tepid watered down drinks. They certainly do not maintain or check the quality of the drink stations. I rated them higher than I desired on stars because I take these ratings seriously and hope they improve themselves. Hopefully it was an especially bad day for Fortel’s and they do a lot better as a norm. They certainly are too expensive for the lackluster food and atmosphere.

The Fortel family is incredibly warm and welcoming—it truly feels like visiting old friends. Every dish is made fresh and bursting with flavor, but the fried mushrooms? Hands down the best I’ve ever had. This place is a gem, and there’s no question—we’ll definitely be coming back!

My family went there for our 2 year old’s birthday. We wanted to try somewhere local and family owned to support our neighbors. Unfortunately the experience was quite bad. The woman running the register was rude and unhelpful. The food is very subpar. I don’t think I have had worse pizza in STL. The French fries were okay I guess? Anyway, I let our children play in the arcade briefly and 2 machines took our money and didn’t work. I asked for a refund for the broken games (only asking $4 back after spending $50+ on food) and was told they can’t provide refunds “since they rent the arcade machines and don’t own them”. What does that even mean? The game card has Fortels logo on it and you are taking profit from them. You can’t give $4 back so a birthday boy can actually play the games we paid for? Talk about cheap and a great way to alienate a customer. I have no idea how this place is still in business.

I’m a little offended at what I paid for and what I received. I’m from out of town and here for a friend on life support. This was recommended and I was in need of a mental break and not having to cook. My pizza looked and tasted like the toppings were added after it was cooked. Also, a Caesar salad is made with Romaine not iceberg. I do not recommend and I will not be back. I don’t like to be salty or sling shade, but this was bad.

We stopped by for some St. Louis-style pizza recently. The food was okay—it hits the spot if you’re a fan of that style—though the prices felt a bit high for the overall value.
The main downside of our visit was the seating. The restaurant is on the smaller side, and we noticed several tables held back with ‘Reserved’ signs. We were there for about an hour, and even though two sections were marked off, no one ever arrived to claim them. It’s a bit of a letdown to see a crowded waiting area while so many tables stay empty the whole time.
The staff was pleasant, but I’d love to see a more flexible seating policy or better prices to make the experience feel worth the trip.

Used to love this place, but they were rude one too many times. As we all know they are not cheap, so when you get the wrong pizza and when you drive 29 minutes home and they even confirm you have received the wrong pizza… state you will have a credit for said pizza. Called back weeks later to get that pizza plus 5 more xl pizzas and was told we had like 2 dollar credit instead of a credit for the whole pizza.
The lady who identified herself as the owner was rude and essentially called me a liar. Cool. Will absolutely not go back. There is comparable pizza out there that doesn’t come w the attitude. It will catch up with them eventually

I will not be returning to Fortel’s Pizza after a very disappointing experience driven entirely by poor customer service from 1 lady.
We visited 1/2/26 at 3:00 PM with a party of 20 to celebrate a 6-year-old’s birthday, including about 10 kids. The restaurant was nearly empty, and we were seated in a hallway area leading to a party room. At no point were we told this would be an issue.
Around 5:00 PM, guests for another party began arriving to use the party room. An older female employee aggressively and rudely yelled at our group to move out of the way so the other party could pass. There was no courtesy, no polite request—just hostility.
I let it go the first time, but when she returned and spoke to us the same way again, I spoke up and stated that we were also paying customers and that speaking to us rudely was inappropriate. Instead of de-escalating, she argued with me and insisted I was in the wrong.
This was especially unacceptable given that we were there for a child’s birthday and had done nothing wrong. Good food does not make up for disrespectful treatment. Because of this experience, I will not be dining here again, nor will I recommend this location to others

We came here after my husband’s grandma’s funeral. We called ahead & reserved a table for 20 2 days before. There were only 3 other tables of customers besides our family. I realize there were alot of us. But that being said there were rude remarks from the staff & one woman yelled out an order when they brought it out & was very rude. The young men working handled our group much better. Honestly after a funeral it was very inappropriate & if it wasn’t for our group there wouldn’t have been hardly anyone there. I wouldn’t recommend groups over 4. They dont seem able or willing to accommodate a larger sized crowd

Great service, amazing pizza. I love they have Artichokes as an option for a topping. Love their homemade red sauce. They load on the toppings too.
