We’re proud to announce the opening of Lake Oconee Bistro 2020, a new local family restaurant located in the Old Magnolia House. Gary and Kristin Sofen, members of the Lake Area for over 17 years, have brought this amazing building back to life, continuing a lake tradition. Our Bistro team has created an amazing experience with a large menu where everything is made with LOVE. We are open 7 Days a week from 11am for Lunch and Dinner. Saturday & Sunday serving brunch from 11am-3pm. Friday and Saturday we are open late till 10pm. Live music every Friday from 7-10pm and Saturday during season 7-10pm. We have aover 25 draft and local craft beers on tap, a large selection of nice wine and a full bar.**LIVE*LOVE*LAKE**

I had the Shrimp Platter and the food was fresh and hot. My server was Brendon, very knowledgeable of the food, very courteous and friendly. His smile is what made the dinner great. I will be back for some great food.

We came in on a Sunday afternoon for my husband’s birthday. I was pleasantly surprised they had brunch. I ordered the breakfast burrito. Unfortunately it tasted and smelt like the fryer. It was hard to get past the smell. I think it came from the potatoes. Plus there wasn’t much flavor outside of that. Some salsa or hot sauce would’ve gone well with it. My five year old got pasta with butter. It should be tossed in butter, not literally sitting in a pool of butter. He didn’t eat it and I don’t blame him. Luckily he liked the side of fries we got him but that’s all he ate. My husband got the biscuits and gravy and he said it lacked any flavor. The food was mediocre for the prices. The service was outstanding! I know good help is hard to find at the lake.

I came in on a Saturday with a large party (10 adults and 6 kids ish). They were able to sit us somewhat quickly in a private room which was nice and appreciated. The server was nice however, extremely slow. Like EXTREMELY slow. Our drinks took a while to come out but the appetizers came out quickly. Our server took way to long in between coming to check on us/allow us to order which made everything feel like it was moving in slow motion. Our food took FOREVER to come out which was a large part of my frustration. Some food was very god but my chicken sandwich was dry, tough, and bland and I didn’t finish eating it. We also ordered mimosas which were warm/hot in temperature. Also, oddly enough, I asked for a side of ranch for fries and it was also warm/hot. Overall, maybe they would be better for a smaller party but some of the food was just not good at all. After waiting as long as we did we didn’t say anything to the server about our complaints because we were just ready to leave

Beautiful location and good food! The service we received from our waiter made this place 5 stars. We went for a late lunch. We were seated immediately in the outdoor dining area on the screened porch. Our waiter came to our table to take our drink order. When asked he gave great suggestions. Im pretty sure his name was CJ. He was awesome! We ordered the jumbo pretzel and bang shrimp! These appetizers were the highlight of our meal! We also ordered one design your own bloody mary to share. The drink was very good. For entrees we ordered a burger and French dip. Fries came with both entrees. The burger was lacking in the flavor department and the French dip was tough. The fries were delicious. The bill was quite high. All in all it was a good experience.

Absolutely stellar restaurant in a place you wouldn’t expect! Rarely will you ever find a restaurant in a Summer community with a view of water that pumps out good food, but here they are.
I have pretty much tried a good portion of the menu, including salads, burgers, appetizers, and the sandwiches. They all pretty much rock and deliver on quantity and flavor.
The burger is the absolute highlight of the menu. If Seth is cooking, the burger will come out flawless, juicy, and cooked perfectly to your desired temperature. My one complaint is the price of the shrimp appetizer. 6 fried shrimp was $16.00. Not worth the price, but that’s for the management to set.
Overall delicious and I ate here three times in our last week. Highly recommend!

My husband and I had a date night without kids tonight. We have 3 kids 4yo and under, so this is an opportunity few and far between! We enjoyed sitting at a high top, listening to live music with good drinks without kids (did I already say that?). We ordered the specials: coconut shrimp and a mussels dish (plus a signature salad). Crystal was friendly and attentive, and she persuaded me to order the special cucumber mint cocktail – so good! We ended with key lime pie and peanut butter pie and one of the best espresso martinis I’ve had because “treat yoself”. 10/10 experience

Wow! What a fabulous place, amazing food and the staff is absolutely top notch! This place and these people were so outstanding in fact that during our time at Lake Oconee we ate nowhere else. This lovely place and their comfortable porch became our home away from home, Eagles fans and all ❣️ And the food, oh the food, was the star. We concentrated on the seafood items but everything was overly delicious… The fish and chips were the best I’ve ever had! Conch fritters, calamari, a stunning oatmeal stout, fried green tomatoes, scallops and on and on . Do yourself a favor and stop by when you have the chance, you’ll be so glad you did!
