First time ever visiting a Shoney’s, and I honestly didn’t know it was buffet-style—but what a wonderful surprise. For about $14, the value was excellent. I had two pieces of fried chicken, a piece of baked salmon, a fresh salad, and coffee. Everything was fresh and well prepared. I believe Monday night was BBQ night.
What truly stood out, though, was the service and atmosphere. My server, Bri (B-R-I), was absolutely lovely as was Alisha, and the manager (I believe his name was Greg) was warm, welcoming, and clearly proud of his team. You could tell the staff genuinely wanted to be there, and there were lots of happy regulars, which says everything.
Even though I’m not usually a buffet person, this felt comfortable, unhurried, and genuinely homey—especially appreciated while traveling. Five stars without hesitation.

It has not changed since my childhood! I grew up going to the Shoneys in Parkersburg, WV. Got the dinner buffet, and it was hot and delicious. It exceeded my expectations! Service was great and the establishment was clean.

My first time ever and after this experience, it will be my last. I arrived for lunch at approx 1pm with my fiance. Autumn who sat us was polite and attentive as well as our server, Pamela. This is where everything amazing..ends. I got to listen to the “manager” (skinny girl with brown hair pulled back in a clip and a sweater) be absolutely inappropriate to Autumn in ear shot of the ENTIRE restaurant. She stated that Autumns pants were too short and needed to look a certain way and stated that “she knew she was tired but..” and went on AND on. Autumn obviously embarrassed stated she would get new pants…you would figure this would end here… but it didn’t. The manager continued with berating her at every chance she got. If I had been the employee-I would of politely told her where to go.
Meanwhile, Miss Manager: Your floors are STICKY, the backroom extra seating is blocked off for storage of boxes of holiday decorations, the bathrooms are gross , you were nice to the male staff that kept coming out of the kitchen every 10 minutes (especially the guy with the baseball hat ),
and the lunch buffet selections made ZERO sense. Strawberry Sauce and nothing to put on it, dried out chicken, soup thats been sitting …
NEVER again.

This is probably one of the worst Shoneys I have been to, which surprised me being in the tourist town of Summersville. Our waitress never came to the table after she brought the drinks, not a refill, not to take some plates away, and not even to bring the bill. We walked up to the front where she kept telling us she had forgotten we were there. After the third time of telling us we were forgotten i finally spoke up and asked her to quit saying it. So as we were finally paying she slid the card reader over and kept saying theres a zero option for the tip, which we would never do even for bad service. When she realized she was actually getting a tip she did get a bit nicer. Anyway, the resteraunt is not the cleanest and the table we sat at felt gritty. I can say that even the restroom was not a surprise when it wasnt the cleanest, but it did smell really nice. Not sure what kind of freshener they use but it smells really good. Because there wasnt a large crowd the food was a bit overcooked and dry on top from the heat lamps, even the soup needed stirred as it was like a sticky sheet on top and stuck to the serving spoon. Not to mention there was a guy on the outside speaking abusive language as we left. So, if you like overpriced food for not the greatest and horrible service, THIS, this is your place, otherwise you might want to make sure there are more than 2 cars in the parking lot. Lesson learned.

Don’t waste your time or money! Stopped on our way through town, were greeted and sat without menus assumed our only option was the food buffet where everything looked like it had been sitting out for hours. Soup had a skin on top of it so much so you couldn’t tell what kind it even was! Salad dressing had a sour taste, selection was overall MINIMAL.

We had breakfast here while our truck was being worked on. Hadn’t been on a Shoney’s for years. It was extremely clean! The food was hot, fresh and delicious and it was around 10 am. Our server Cherry was amazing! Best server I’ve encountered in a while! The atmosphere was awesome. You could hear laughter and the employees were nice to be around…. Keep up the good work! We will definitely be back!

The food was mediocre at best.
From the outside the restaurant looks run down and almost abandoned.
But I’m still excited I found an operating Shoneys!

Terrible. The food had hair in my daughter’s and mine. Then we told the waitress we were paying separately….she managed to not understand that and screwed that up as well. Terrible food and service.
