We stopped in while traveling out of state, and this location turned out to be the perfect break. The atmosphere and menu reminded us of Houston’s—elevated décor with a comfortable feel. While I was a little disappointed they didn’t offer a spinach dip appetizer, everything else exceeded expectations.
Our server, Drew, was prompt, polite, and very attentive to our requests. We’ve visited other locations in this chain and have consistently had great experiences, and this one was no exception. The steak was cooked perfectly with a great sear. Although there’s no dedicated kids’ menu, we were able to customize portions to make it work.
Parking was plentiful, even with the restaurant being next to a busy mall. Overall, a reliable and enjoyable stop on our trip.

We found the atmosphere at J. Alexander’s Restaurant felt very upper scale. Though it is a very casual place the decor is very nice. Our food was really good, my shrimp tacos were delicious. My wife had fish tacos and really enjoyed them. Our server was very friendly and very attentive. This is a nice place to eat and we will return.

I had a nice time , food service was great on valentines day, only problem i had was 99% of the females that was there dressed like they just got out of a strip club, half there stuff was hanging out. I love it there but the way them females dressed was crazy. Just out of respect for the restaurant and the name. The little old lady sitting in the next booth was making the comments to.. its ok to dress nice, but dont come to this place looking like your naked and everyone can see you stuff there was kids also there.. as always I give them a 5 star rating love it there

This is the perfect place for date night! Everyone was really nice. Our server Ericka was awesome. I asked her recommendations for drinks and she provided two martinis, but I didn’t get either one. I like cocktails. It didn’t bother me at all because she seemed very knowledgeable on the popular items. I was impressed!
I don’t always get an appetizer but today I wanted to try something different. The appetizer is fried calamari with marinara. I can tell by the batter that the oil is fresh. The food is seasoned very well. The shrimp tacos were fantastic! I didn’t have anything to say about the food other than how good it was for my first time dining experience.
I had no room for the peanut butter pie, but Ericka suggested to try the carrot cake which we took home. She made our night and appreciate her.

I brought my best friend for her birthday. The food was delicious 10/10. Our waiter name was Santana she was very professional, serve us with a smile. Santana knew her job and she did it well she didn’t miss a beat when I tell you we didn’t have to ask for a refill or anything. Santana should be the person that who trains all the new Waiters. Santana thanks for making my best friend birthday even more special with being such amazing waiter you rock….

The employees seem sad, that was weird. The service felt a little lacking. The upsides are that the decor is really nice. Dimly lit, dark brown wood, cozy feel. It is very clean too, even the bathroom looks spotless. Prices are not cheap, but not unreasonable either. The quality of the food is definitely the saving grace. Really tasty and high quality!

I had an incredible dining experience at J. Alexander’s in Baton Rouge! The crabcakes were absolutely delicious, perfectly golden on the outside, tender and flavorful on the inside, with just the right balance of seasoning. They were truly some of the best I’ve had. I also enjoyed the Blueberry Lemon Drop and the Peach Martini, both cocktails were excellent. Not only were they well-crafted and full of flavor, but there was definitely a generous pour, which was a big plus. The Blueberry Lemon Drop was crisp, refreshing, and had just the right amount of tartness, while the Peach Martini was smooth, slightly sweet, and very easy to enjoy. For my entrée, the brine-marinated chicken was a standout, incredibly juicy, full of flavor, and cooked to perfection. From start to finish, everything about the meal was top-notch. I’ll definitely be coming back!

Jay Alexanders in Baton Rouge is one of those places to go if you want a complete dining experience. The service and the food has ALWAYS been EXCELLENT and tonight was no exception. They were busy and we had a short wait for an accessible table ( in a wheelchair) but again, it was worth it. Highly recommend this restaurant. Chloe and Madison were OUTSTANDING. Thank you again for a wonderful dining experience!
