Service is warm, professional, and attentive, making the whole experience smooth from start to finish. The ambience is sleek and elegant, perfect for a special night out, celebrations, or simply treating yourself to an exceptional meal.
While it’s on the pricier side, the quality, presentation, and experience make it well worth it. For top‑tier Japanese‑fusion dining in Melbourne, Nobu at Crown is still one of the best
The food was good. The sushi was surprisingly underwhelming (bad to be blunt – hard and chewy) which is surprising for such a high end restaurant with a good reputation. In fairness that was somewhat made up for by the cod, short rib, wagyu dumplings and pork belly. The food was fairly good overall. Although that’s expected when the bill for 4 of us was $650.
Very good service and the cocktails at Nobu are very good. Great place to have a drink with friends even after a night in the city or the casino.
She then proceeded to just sequence a tasting menu without dairy for us. Holy smokes. 10/10 service and atmosphere.
The food we received was generally good, with generous portion sizes and interesting flavour combinations. Standout dishes on the night were the spicy edamame, soft shell crab, and mushroom yaki. The salmon tartare was enjoyable at first, but the accompanying sauce overpowered the dish and detracted from the overall taste.
Unfortunately, several items from the vegetarian menu were unavailable, and although sorbets were listed, we were told the flavour wasn’t in stock when we tried to order. I also asked if one dish could be packed as takeaway, but this request was overlooked.
While the staff were polite and accommodating, the very loud music made it difficult to have a conversation or clearly hear others at the table.
Overall, considering the price and the experience, it’s not a venue we would choose to return to.

Went back to Nobu for our second visit. We arrived around 6pm and were seated in the alfresco area, where we could enjoy the Christmas display on the river while dining. On our first visit, we were seated near the chefs, but this time we had a better table outside with a lovely river view. We had 2 drinks, and ordered dishes: oysters, tacos, beef ribs, calamari, and fish. My partner and I always share our dishes, and the portions were just right for the both of us. The staff were friendly, attentive, and happy to chat, which made the experience even better.
Overall food quality isn’t too bad, but combinations of ingredients are questionable.
For example, Crab + Watermelon + Tsuyu? Very questionable combinations. Crab fry is hot, tsuyu is salty, watermelon wasn’t sweet enough.
Beef rib + saffron + corn in Japanese restaurant? I wouldn’t say it is Japanese.
Tuna taco was pretty good. Trying to make toro texture.
