This is the Honey BBQ Pork Spud (Menu price $10.29) a phrase that apparently means “plain potato with unmet promises.” The potato itself was fine—fluffy, steaming, full of potential. Sadly, it was left to carry the entire dish emotionally.
The pulled pork showed up like it was on a break. A few lonely shreds were scattered on top, so scarce I had to double-check this wasn’t a pulled pork–inspired potato. I’ve seen more meat in a vegetarian apology.
As for the BBQ sauce? Completely missing in action. Not “light.” Not “on the side.” Just… absent.
And then there were the four slices of green onion. Not a sprinkle. Not a garnish. Four. I counted. They felt less like a topping and more like a warning.

Who in the world puts Jalapenos on a chicken salad sandwich? Not me! And I didn’t order it like that! I did 1/2 sandwich and 1/2 nachos and even removed the jalapenos from the nachos! But they decided to put them on the chicken salad sandwich? Gross! I ate the first one before I knew what had even happened.

Always a good meal. My wife and I stopped by and dined in, usually I’m grabbing something to take home after a watch on the ambulance. As usual the people are professional courteous and friendly, the food is plentiful and tasty. It’s in a strip mall parking lot so parking is plentiful, if a mild adventure sometimes. Only a few spaces right next to the building, the rest are a short walk into a trapezoid corner of the car park.
The staff are always busy, they’re earning their bucks keeping the place clean and tidy and making great food.

Very busy when I was here. Service was outstanding. Food was outstanding. Sitting area clean at all times. Staff friendly always going around asking if I needed anything. Very enjoyable lunch. This has been the best McAlister’s that I have been to yet. Will definitely go back. 10 April New location still in same area. Much smaller area. Things have changed as far as the welcome feeling. Not the closeness anymore. Hoping we can get that feeling again at this location. Update: 12 Mar, 2024. Excellent service, delicious food and a wonderful staff that will pamper you throughout your time there. You will definitely enjoy your experience here. I now can give this Deli a 5⭐’s rating plus recommending all to go here . Update 29 Jan, 2025. Enjoyed a wonderful lunch today with some friends. This restaurant is still on top of it. . A table was available and the staff was on their best. Service was 5 stars. Good , of course, excellent .

Luke was such an outstanding WORKER. Brought out our food in a timely manner and it was perfect. He constantly asked us if we needed refills and he delivered ! He even took a bite outta my sandwich to make sure it wasn’t poisoned. Wouldn’t ask for someone better. Go Luke ! Great job mcallisters !

This was my first time dining at the Temple, TX location. It was the best McAllister experience I’ve ever had. The staff was friendly and helpful. They never allowed my drink to get empty without offering a refill. If you’re near Temple TX, try the McAllister.
