After dealing with this seasonal cold, I needed some hot and sour soup to heal my body. Did some quick research and empress of China came up with the most consistent ratings.
I haven’t had hot & sour soup in the New Orleans area, so I was hesitant.
Upon entering, the establishment was clean and showed that it has frequent and consistent supporters.
Staff was welcoming and patient..
Ordering was easy and quick.
Timeliness was on point as well.

Based on my previous reviews – I will reiterate, I am a snob when it comes to Asian cuisine.
The hot & sour soup was more egg drop to me but packed major flavor!
It was also packed with fresh ingredients..

The shrimp was great. Battered perfectly, with a significant portion size.

Additional feedback, I would have preferred to have veggie fried rice with my sweet & sour shrimp, instead of combination fried rice as I do not eat land meat. Since, I couldn’t order that, I had to settle for white rice..

Other than that , I appreciate the food and hospitality!

We tried Empress of China for a quick lunch, but the service was extremely slow. It took 45 minutes just to get drinks, and the whole meal stretched over nearly three hours. The food itself was fresh and pretty good—the hot and sour soup stood out—but the delays overshadowed the experience. They clearly need more staff, as the “Now Hiring” sign suggests. Once they speed up service, it could be a great spot!

Great place to eat. The portions are very large. 2-3 people can share. They are very attentive.

Went to this place today, and the egg roll was spoiled. The boneless chicken had broccoli at the bottom of the plate I ate from them plenty of times and it was not like this. Lots of juice from the, broccoli so some of the boneless chicken was soggy they said they would give me another egg roll ,but I don’t want it after I taste a spoiled egg roll No Sir! I’m never eating from them again. Make sure you save all your receipts from here because the prices do change.

I ordered egg rolls to go and the worse thing fried food can be is cold. Once the egg rolls are cold they get soggy and wet. What doesn’t make sense is they stopped giving the cup of hot mustard to complement the dish and make you pay .55 for sauce that originally came with it. They want you to pay but will dump tons of pack sauce that 1 order of egg rolls does not accommodate. My order was $8.15 for egg rolls and an additional $. 55 for mustard. Although you shouldn’t have to ask, make sure to ask them to cook your egg rolls to order.

I LOVE THIS RESTAURANT. There’s absolutely nothing bad to say about it. The food, the service, and the atmosphere are perfect.

I always order their fried mandarin chicken, it’s my favorite. The brown sauce that they use tastes amazing. And their portions are HUGE. You get a lot for your buck.

Go! You won’t be disappointed.

Oh! Also, their crab rangoon is the best I’ve tasted, and their egg rolls are so big and delicious!

Absolutely HORRIBLE customer service. If they get something wrong with your order, they don’t take responsibility for it. They will inconvenience you, with no compensation for their wrong. Their food quality and taste is inconsistent also. First few times going there, food was okay. Went downhill from there. Will NEVER recommend as a place to go for chinese food.

Went last night, read a review that had just been posted and doubted going but took a leap of faith. Best decision ever! The food was AMAZING! The waitress was so attentive! The food portions are perfect, and we love having leftovers for next day! We will definItely be back! The curry and low mein are just the perfect flavor I especially enjoyed the egg drop soup

First off let me say the waiter is so rude. She wanna tell you how to order when you spending your money. And then the food came out and it was cold, and had the nerve to ask me do i want her to put it in a microwave. They done fell off real bad! Because we used to go here and get good services and food now its horrible.

This restaurant smelled like urine and the wall paper was peeling off the walls and the tables were sticky with crumbs on them.

The fish pond part looked old and in need of some TLC.

We sat but weren’t asked for drinks and no server came by to ask us anything while workers were sitting eating and others were up front chatting and showing each other their phones.

Very high dinner prices for Chinese food. Menu said an 18% gratuity on parties of 5 or more which means bad service.

We decided not to chance getting food poisoning or suffering bad service.
