I ended up here because my truck was getting looked at then fixed. I wasn’t to to hungry. I got a coffee at first. Then decided to get something to eat. So I got the short stack of pancakes. Well I’ll tell ya these cakes were big. You get 3 in a short stack. They were terrific & very filling. The waitress was very kind.

always heard good things, but my eggs were grey when i went. very bad experience and i could tell out of the two servers, we got the one that didn’t look happy to be there at all, wish we would’ve had the other who was bubbly and friendly.

Massive pancakes, super fast service, and very fairly priced. The blueberries taste fresh and not like they’ve been shipped across the country. There’s 70s music playing and it’s a very chill environment. Couldn’t recommend more

I have never had a finer BLT club sandwich in my life and I am 45 years old. The gentleman running the restaurant for the owner is not only the finest BLT chef I’ve ever encountered, but he’s excellent with the customers. I truly hope that the owner gives him this restaurant to care for all on his own. He’s a good man and an excellent chef.

It’s a gem. The pastries are huge and fluffy and yummy of course with a amazingly reasonable price. Meals are also good. Burger, omelette and salad is just right the size and flavor. Not too big not too salty or saucy, just right, very enjoyable, no burden. We eat everything up, no waste.

I made it into West Davenport via a trip down to the Freight House Farmer’s Market this morning. After getting a bit of Kombucha and hanging around, I needed some lunch. A quick review of the places nearby led me to Tommy’s Cafe. Seemed like a nice place to try out.

I’m glad I decided on Tommy’s this morning. It’s an experience in and of itself, at least for me as someone living well away from west Davenport. The diner is a true hole in the wall. The floors have that tile characteristic of nearly every building built in the 80s or 90s and the booths are that light pink I stereotypically envision every diner has. In keeping with their story, it’s plainly obvious that one half of the restaurant was the original space (wood paneling walls) and the other half was an expansion (normal looking cream colored drywall). There’s nothing wrong with this – it’s a neat feature of the space that highlights its history.

Hungry for lunch, I ended up getting a burger and fries, both of which were out to me within 10 minutes. Both were solid – the burger was filling and exactly what I’d expect a diner burger to be. The fries still had small bits of oil on them sizzling ever so slightly. They had the right combination of crispy and fluffy that crinkle cut fries should have. Truly, this place is a greasy spoon worth visiting.

I need to come back at least one more time to try their donuts and/or other baked goods. They are prominently featured, but I was too full upon leaving to consider them. At any rate, if you’re in this part of Davenport, you should stop into Tommy’s at some point. Get a good meal from a local institution and hang out for a while. Thanks Tommy’s!

The ideal greasy spoon. Perfect donuts, efficient service, patrons seem comfortable and familiar with one another and the staff. What you see is what you get. This is what diners should be.

Even in the heart of the city there are places that take me back to living in a small town where people interact as if they go there every day and possibly work there. Great food at a decent price and a very helpful staff! I ate there for breakfast and was not disappointed!
