Owner Frank Ostini showcases the tradition of the highest-quality Santa Maria Barbecue paired with some of the region’s best Pinot Noir wines. The Hitching Post 2 became internationally recognized with the 2004 Academy Award-winning film Sideways and has been earning praise for its food and wines for over three decades.

The host acknowledged us right away, and after a short wait we were seated.
Our server, Jennifer, was attentive, friendly, and very hospitable throughout the evening.
Everyone in our party ordered steaks, and they were all cooked to the correct doneness. However, the meat quality didn’t quite meet our expectations. The ribeye wasn’t as tender or on par with steakhouses like Maestro’s, Capital Grille, or Ruth’s Chris.
We came in with high expectations after seeing it featured as having the “Best Steaks in California.”
While it’s a solid, classic steakhouse experience, it didn’t quite live up to the hype for us.
The bar was packed and the atmosphere was lively, and it’s clearly a popular spot with visitors and locals alike.
Would we return? Probably not. Would I recommend it? Yes, but go in with reasonable expectations. It’s a straightforward steakhouse, nothing more, nothing less.
I had a NY steak and the wifey had the Rack of Lamb both were delicious. Jennifer was out waitress and she was amazing.
I wanted a glass of Merlot just to stick it to Paul Giamatti for what he did to NWA in Straight outta Compton but they only sold it by the bottle. Regardless Jennifer’s attentiveness and the food eclipse that minor thought of pettiness
